Research in Principles of Life Basic Seminar Textbook

This is the best resource for working through life issues and relational conflict that I've ever read and used. It covers theology, psychology, and counseling in a clear, illustrated format that is simple enough for a 12 year old to follow. I've been to 6 Bill Gothard seminars, including the advanced, at various ages and with various people including my parents, my fiance who became my husband, my kids when they were of an age, and friends. It's been a great foundational help in relationships, self-assessments, and making choices in life.Another reviewer's one line comment states Bill Gothard is immoral.?? Someone blames him because they followed BG principles (from scripture) and married a bad person?? And the Seminar is a cult?? Bill Gothard is a very pleasant guy to listen to for a week of instruction and insight. He is laying out principles and commands from scripture in a way that makes sense to him, and to a lot of people (100's of thousands over decades?). In teaching, he's always God-focused and humble, and the logic he's been graced with is profound. It seems to be his personality to study, compile, document and teach God's principles from scripture, and he does an awesome job of it. He's not perfect. He would be the one to avoid a 'following', or being 'idolized', or usurping God in any way. Wiki details a scandal of accusations. Rather than defend himself, he refuted it, and stepped out of the ministry. No charges against him were ever documented or filed. I've seen Satan work to take down and discredit leaders. It's common. Point: Please don't discredit this resource textbook for that reason.Bill Gothard is, by human nature, a flawed sinner in his own, human thinking, so no one should 'follow' him. Anyone who lifts up and idolizes anything or anyone but God is in a cult mentality. Jesus is the only flawless human, ever, and at the same time he's God, the Word(s), the speaking agent of the Father, and truth. And this book is a great compilation of bible principles and highly refined over decades of use.BG has added some of his own ideas, like rock music is spiritually degrading. Beverages like wine and beer are to be avoided. I disagree. The scripture he cites for those things seems out of context to me. But that should move me to get into the Word for myself and see what God says, out of love for that most important love relationship I have, that any person can have in their life. I need and love the teaching and instruction of the Holy Spirit first and most. But, as a nice help, this book is a great resource.

This is an amazing book! Great lessons and help for spiritual dilemmas.

I purchased this for a friend who does a lot of counseling. The basic principals in this book are Bible based and provide direction in many life situations.

A classic

I appreciated receiving this book, however it was not the one I original ordered. What was sent to me was the Advanced Seminar Textbook. I really needed the Life Basic. This was not my error and I should be sent my original order free as an apology for the error. But I guess the people who took my order want me to buy 2 books.

This book was purchased years ago after attending Gothard's seminars. It is filled with scripture twisting rules and regulations that do not reflect Christ's teachings and his ways.
