Nice track lights
These are nice tracks lights, and I really like the available LED bulbs. I must say I'm amazed at how many people don't know the several different ways you can wire up these track lights. You DON'T need to use the 'standard' big square connector box which comes with the track lights (those things are wicked ugly, and they're a pain to wire up.) You can very easily find a "live end' connector which snaps into one end of the track. You can buy a live end connector with a pre-attached cord and switch (available on Amazon or at Home Depot etc.) OR you can hard-wire the live end connector with romex and feed it from the back side so the wire isn't visible. I have 10 sets of track lights in my house, all wired using live end connectors. Enjoy.

Just ordered a third set in spite of install troubles. Learn my install tips in the details.
I researched types of bulbs and decided on BR30 LEDs then shopped for the fixtures. I like the ones in this review because nearly all of the bulbs are shrouded (except of course the faces). This shields the viewers eyes from glare, and provides as much protection for the bulbs as possible. I'm so pleased with the illumination (see photo) that I just ordered a third set. However, the installation was difficult due to poor design by Lithonia. My install tips:1. Select a round ceiling electrical box carefully. I used ones with swing clamps, Lowe's Item # 70983 Model # B618RR, which is 4.25" diameter on the OD. The mounting screws of the Lithonia rectangular cover collided with the electrical box. I had to drill out material to make room for the screws. The Lithonia rectangular cover didn't quite cover ceiling electrical box in two places so the bright blue plastic showed. I painted it to blend in better with the ceiling but I wish that Lithonia made their cover larger. The edges also sit on the electrical box flange rather than being flush with the ceiling.2. I opted to use the provided hardware that screws into drywall. First I installed the plastic components in my marked locations, then screwed in the metal screw part way where the keyhole slot goes. I slipped the track into position and screwed in the other metal fastener. This overhead operation would be much easier if the track had TWO keyhole slots. I was not able to turn in the metal screws far enough to secure the track tight to the ceiling. I discovered that the screws were too long and bottomed out in the plastic parts. Trying to remove the metal screws just unscrewed the plastic hardware from the drywall. Then I had to use vice grip pliers to separate the pieces. I replaced the metal screws with shorter ones which worked successfully in new plastic parts.Other pitfalls:I never want to see warning or information labels on fixtures in my living spaces. So WHY are they glued on with stuff that would survive a tornado? Lithonia could use clings like for oil change stickers on car windshields. It took me a lot of time and Goof Off to remove them. Not user friendly! Two of the six floods did not light until I reinstalled them several times, and one went dark while I was adjusting the direction of it. Rather temperamental. The instruction sheets had conflicting information on procedures. Choose your own adventure.

Installation is a miserable experience
Instructions for installation are scattered in a foldout doc, with a column in English, then more columns in other languages, then more English on another part of the foldout, etc, rather than having all the instructions for one language together. There is no indication as where the starting point is, and they dont seem to be in a logical order.Instructions say things like "Determine which connector will be used to power the track". Thats confusing because it apparently comes with only one connector.I had 4 wires in my ceiling but the instructions only talk about 3, so I had to google and call a hardware store to find out what to do with the other one. Also, it says connect black to black but I needed black to red for the wall switch to work.In the first photo I attached, instructions say, "Simply twist heads onto track". This is wrong. Doing that may damage the product. Elsewhere it says you have to pull down on a plastic collar, then twist. Why have directions twice with it wrong in one instance? In photo two, you see the wires going *around* the mounting plate. This is wrong. There is no information about what kinds of ceiling mounting hardware is compatible with the product. My house is less than 20 years old so I dont think I have anything too weird but after talking to tech support, this light is apparently not compatible with the mounting hardware in my ceiling. As a result, I had to use holes in the mounting plate for mounting it that left the holes for the cover inaccessible, so I am unable to attach the cover. The final photo shows my finished project. :-(

Floor lamp substitute.
I bought this because I’m a plant person, but I also hate clutter and unnecessary items on the floor. So, I decided to give this a try and return the ugly floor lamp I had purchased. I put special LED bulbs in them and it works like a charm. I didn’t hard wire mine because I rent, it should be easy to take down when I leave and be reinstalled somewhere else.

Complete kit but has a white vs black diffuser causing glare
They come with everything needed to install.I wish the inside diffuser was black to help reduce the glare but when using short neck bulbs the white diffuser on the inside of the bell does diffuse the light a bit and help reduce the glare. The smooth bell is nice change up from the industrial looking stepped bells on many track lights. The dim bulbs at the manufactures say that you cannot use this fixture with a dimmer. But thats nonsense as the dim bulbs are referring to their bulbs you can purchase with the track light. The track and fixtures themselves are simple direct connections to the house AC and any dimmable bulb you install will work with this fixture.
