Excellent cookbook, I own and know the series and enjoy them. The photos help me envision the dishes and the recipes are wonderful. I cannot work with a cookbook without pictures as I am a visual learner.

I also love reading the cookbooks I purchased. I have tried several of the recipes and have not been disappointed. There are wonderful reference guides to draw on. Beautifully photographed.

All things SAVEUR are wonderful !

I wasn't as crazy about this one as I was about Saveur's Authentic French book. The Authentic American book is more a melting pot of recipes. I was expecting well known, classic regional dishes. It was strange to see so many ethnic dishes. Yes, everyone in America is from somewhere, but there are dishes that are old and indigenous to the U.S. I would like to have seen more of those.

One of my favorite cookbooks and I have many. I go back to this book again and again. Many recipes have become traditional favorites in my house for holidays and special occasions and some, like the baking powder biscuits I make several times a month. I also love the stories and biographies that go along with each recipe. This is one of my cookbooks that looks USED, lots of dirty pages, that's how I know it's a good one.

The great advantage of Saveur Cook books is you know exactly what you are getting. Good recipes, background stories of food and people, opinions and of course great illustrations and simple recipes to follow. Saveur Cook Books aren't for the skilled amateur of the adventurous cook, they are for people who enjoy cooking, enjoy stories about food and prefer simple and wholesome food.Worth buying and savouring
