Good battery
This worked out okay for my Tom Tom and though it was a little difficult to install the directions made it possible. The old battery was glued in at the factory so I was worried about breaking the motherboard when removing it.

Does what it says on the box!
I decided to replace the battery in my old Tomtom go720 that hadn't been used for years. The old battery was so shot that it could barely boot and plan a route before it gave up & died.If you are nervous check out this video [...] it shows exactly where all the screws are and also a couple of good techniques to prise the case apart and remove the old battery. You need a small Torx driver (I forget which size but I think it was T8?) and a couple of small screw drivers (or better still a plastic blade) for levering things apart. If you have large fingers some precision needle nose pliers or tweezers will come in handy for picking up and placing the screws. My battery was stuck fast and I ended up destroying it to get it unstuck.... despite careful use of a hot air gun to soften the glue. The old battery was 1320mAh and the new one was only 1300mAh... but that's the only "non complaint" I have. The battery that I replaced was marked "VF8".The video above recommends double sided tape to secure the battery but there was so much glue left on the circuit board the battery wouldn't come off again after I trial placed it!!! So there is stayed!!After re-assembly it works just like it did when it was new. Very satisfying little project.Edit - just realised my youtube link was hidden by Amazon. just search "tomtom go720 change battery" and you will find loads of pictures & video.

Works perfectly
Our old TomTom GO 730T barely held a charge anymore, so we got this battery to replace the original one. Opening the TomTom case is not difficult, but you must be careful and patient. I found a helpful video on YouTube which showed how. You will need a Torx T6 to unscrew the screws of the case, a spudger to carefully open it, then remove the motherboard. Once you have it open, very carefully pry off the old battery, which is held in with strong double stick tape (or glue). You want to preserve the tape if possible, to hold the new battery securely in place. Otherwise, use double sticky tape to hold it while you get it reassembled. It's hard to reassemble if the battery is not firmly in place. Once everything is back together, the new battery should be held in place just fine by the case. With the new battery, the TomTom holds a charge for a long time again.

Excellent value
I did not purchase the tool kit as I have a set of jeweler screwdrivers I use to repair my eyeglasses. The youtube video mentioned by others is a very valuable aid to be used to replace the battery. Where it came up short for me was I could find no crevice to insert even the smallest screwdriver and pry the screen from the case. I found another website that suggested 'pushing' the screen out using the holes where the 2 case screws were. That did the trick. The old battery is glued to the board and you must use patience to separate them. I used a small steak knife and worked it under the battery very slowly. Any efforts to pry the battery off will most likely crack the motherboard so be very careful! After charging for a couple of hours my 720 is like new again.

Dead tomtom now better than new!
While rummaging thru my attic I found an old TomTom Go 730 that worked only if it was plugged in. I found this battery after a bit of searching and now the TomTom works better than new. With this new battery installed, on a full charge it can last half a day or more (depending on brightness settings). In terms of installation, it was fairly painless, just search youtube for your device's battery replacement instructions. Other than double sided tape and the torx screwdriver, this battery is all you'll need. The screws may vary by model so I recommend some research on that. Installation took about 15 minutes and it sure beat spending 10x the price of this battery to get a working GPS for my trip.

I really don't know if it worked or not, as soon as I replaced the battery to my TomTom, I plugged it in, and the thing did not get a satellite signal anymore !!

Brought my TomTom back to life-- AGAIN!
My TomTom wouldn't hold a charge, so I took a chance on this battery. It was very inexpensive. Installation was not that hard.Good product, right price. I'm very happy with this purchase.Update: well in just over 3 years, the replacement battery began to fade, and wouldn't hold a charge. I re-purchased the battery and once again, my Tom Tom was brought back to life !My biggest gripe... Of course 5 days after the package arrived and I installed it... The price on Amazon dropped nearly 40%... Just my luck.Update: March 30, 2016,Ok 5 Months into my 2nd replacement battery and it's not holding a charge...hmmm.Not happy now

Easily fitted
This arrived very fast, I fitted it the same day to my tomtom Go720 which was a simple job using the PDA GPS Phone toolkit. If you have doubts watch the online you tube video first. The single most difficult part was releasing the old battery which is secured to the printed circuit board by a double sided adhesive patch. It took a long time to release using a flat wooden lollipop stick sharpened to a chisel shape at one end, also a cut up plastic credit card. after about 15 minutes of gently teasing the edges of the old battery up it finally came away. The old battery was secured with a smaller piece of double side adhesive tape (In case I need to change it again). All was reassembled and the tomtom put on charge for several hours. It now works perfectly with a fully restored battery life at very little cost. The mini toolkit was fine except for the flat plastic case remover device which was flimsy and of inferior plastic which broke very easily leaving me to revert to the old credit card.

Has gone in OK
Followed YouTube video. The plastic tool broke on the first use. A small screwdriver sufficed. Interestingly the screwdrivers supplied were non-magnetic which meant handling the small screws was fiddly. Removal of the battery from the board took about 20 mins, but I wanted to cause as little damage. All in 30 mins ...the TomTom works and is now on charge. So fingers crossed. One slightly odd thing...there was a "Lithium Battery Charging Board with LED Light Indicator Power Converter Module" in the packet that arrived. Not ordered. I thought it might be a USB charging device for the battery, but no connecting socket. Appears to have a miniature transformer. We'll see how the TomTom goes and I'll feedback. Now fully charged. Interestingly when the TomTom is charging it shows a 25% battery readout, but take it off charge and check it, shows 100%. But thats the machine not the battery. So very impressed, new life for the Go 730 at a bargain price.

Perfect fit for Tomtom G730
Ordered this battery after reading other reviews.Opening the Tomtom Go 730 was a doddle. The most difficult and initially scary bit was removing the original battery.I watched a number of clips on Youtube. In the end the way I removed the battery was by sliding an old credit card gently under it and wiggling it about.Fitting the new battery and putting the Tomtom together again was easy. I noticed that the screws had thread lock on them so I put a drop of new thread lock on each before screwing them back it.So why 4 stars and not 5?The battery has only been in for 1 day so I cannot comment on its longer term performance yet. So far it has powered the Tomtom for a lot longer than the old battery so things are looking good.I will update in about a month's time when I've had time to test it's performance for longer.
