plug and play
Worked perfectly. I have new UHD TV. Great picture. Played several regular DVDs. Played one BlueRay. Only had to push the yellow button before play to select region and worked perfectly. Remote has large enough buttons and respond to pushes. Practically plug and play.

Not From Sony, but an Outstanding Product
The Amazon catalog (site) description is inaccurate. This is a Region Free player, but it is NOT from Sony. Another company has modified the drive to make it play all DVDs in Regions 0 - 8, and all Blu-Rays in Regions A, B and C. Amazon says the model is the Sony S1500RF. There is no such product from Sony. The drive is the Sony BDP S1700 player, which is NOT region free. Another company, 220-Electronics, has modified it to make it Region Free. They have a data sheet inside that explains this, with a support phone number. That said, the drive is terrific. It will play virtually any DVD or Blu-Ray. The video and audio are both outstanding. It will not play 4K titles of course, but if you need a drive to play DVDs or Blu-Rays from anywhere, you need to get this item.

Very Nice Works Great! Cable, remote and instructions were included..
Today as well as the future, I'm going to buy a couple of DVD/BluRay sets that won't play on U.S. machines. I had bought a region free DVD player a couple of years ago and it plays the British sitcom I bought to watch it. Also U.S. DVDs and ones i have burned myself.Bought a different brand BD region free earlier and returned it as it wouldn't play anything but U.S. DVD's. Paid a bit more but so far it works with U.S and British regions.. so I'm going to buy a Non-U.S. BD set and I'm expecting ill be able to watch that. Region on the player is changed by pushing the color button which matches the region the disk is from. I printed out a global map of all the continents with the different region colors and put it with my instructions. U.S. is red, England is Green, etc.I had my U,S.Sony BD player set up as I use it frequenyly, and I set up this region free Sony for testing near to my U.S. player. Remote for the new region free BD Sony turned on/off and opened/closed my U.S. Sony player so I'll just not have them close together when I'm watching something on one or the other. I was confused for a few minutes though! Two disk trays opening and closing in unison was unexpected.I'm very happy right now but when I get the new DVD set will be the final test.

Plays All Regions
With the U.S. Movie Studios stepping back from making Blu Ray movies as much. I have found that often times the film's are released on physical media overseas. The disc quality is just as good and it is cheap to buy them. This machine plays all region movies. It is a must for film and physical media collectors.

I JUST REALIZED WHAT HAS BEEN SID BY OTHER CUSTOMER - BAD, BAD EXPERIENCE
I had the same situation of another customer here in these reviews.I bought this item since it is described as Multi System Region Free Blue-Ray able to play on 110-240 v. but the AC Adaptor that comes with the item it reports that is functioning on 110 v. only.I thought that it has been modified by seller as well. The player did really work for about 4 times (these are the times I used it in 5 months) and last night, when I started it again, was DEAD.I think this is a major problem since I bought it for my assignment out of the U.S. and I thought I bought a SONY RF1500RF...it is a SONY S1500 MODIFIED instead. I already brought this issue to amazon's attention.I discourage anybody to purchase this item if they want to use it in another country. What follows is amazon's description of this item and the review of the customer who had sort of my same experience.============================================================================================Technical Details• Built in Video PAL/NTSC Converter - Works on all TVs with HDMI Connection• Multi System - World-Wide Use - Multi Region DVD/BDProduct DescriptionWorks on any TV with HDMI connection. Now, watch all your favorite DVD's in from any part of the world. BD ABC / DVD: 0123456. SONY BDP-S1500 REGION FREE BLU-RAY DISC PLAYER BUILT IN PAL/NTSC CONVERTER 100~240V 50/60HZ WORLD WIDE VOLTAGE.1.0 out of 5 starsWhat you see is NOT what you get....By PJ Ross on February 25, 2016Verified PurchaseI ordered an S1500RF that is advertised very clearly as a 110-240v unit. What I got was a BDP-S1500 with a sticker over the model number indicating it was "region free 110-240 dual voltage". The unit had an after-market "modification" with a 90 day warranty and a plug in adaptor that was clearly ONLY playable in a 110v environment. Included was a photocopied one page sheet of instructions. Given that a BDP-S1500 is normally about $85, the company distributing this thing is charging an additional $75 to unlock it. They should be advertising a "modified" BDP-S1500, NOT a S1500RF. I was planning on bringing the unit with me to Europe, but given the limitations of the plug-in adaptor, I cannot. Buyer beware.
