Why have people from different cultures and eras formulated myths and stories with similar structures? What does this similarity tell us about the mind, morality, and structure of the world itself? From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps of Meaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.

A Deep, deep, deep dive into reality
This is a hard read. You have to really want to read it, and have the time to read it. It's absolutely university level content. How I wish I could have taken Maps Of Meaning under JBP. I would absolutely recommend this book if you have already read 12 Rules for Life. Maps of Meaning and 12 Rules force the human perspective both outward and inward. I can honestly say these two books have changed my life. I'm actually a better person now.

Obsessively dense and almost incoherent
Obsessively dense to the point of incoherence. Sometimes insightful but the reader has to work incredibly hard to find useful and comprehensible information. Not recommended for myriad reasons. It is hard to imagine that this is the same author who wrote the clear, wise and very useful 12 Rules.

Good knowledge, poor distribution.
The book itself is fantastic so far. I am grateful for the author's knowledge and my review would be 5 stars for content.First, the plastic film coating (not the packaging) is sliding off which i ignored as i would take good care of this book. But worst, after page 122, the page numbering goes back to being numbered at page 115.Not sure why this error exists but this is only tolerable because the content of this book is beyond it's effort of distribution.

Crease
There was a big crease on the front cover. It was probably who ever packed it's fault though. That's okay though I can live with it. Besides that it's exactly what I asked for and came on time! Thank you very much!
