Buddy Ryan as Gingus Kahn
Gingus Kahn would have been proud of this Bears team. Not only did they vanquish their opponents, they left mangled carnage in their wake, and terror among their foes unlike any team before them. I was fortunate enough to know a few of them and to be in Chicago in the middle of their violent, beautiful coup of the staid, stiff NFL empire. This band of barking marauders smashed the walls and seized the NFL throne like the Vandals trashing Rome. The entire team was uber-talented, nasty and unbeatable and they knew it, and so did the league. This film does a great job of re-capturing a bit of the zany and fear-inspiring escapades of this team on and off the field. It also found the soft underbelly of this beast of a squad by featuring Buddy Ryan's genius, and tough love of his warriors. A profound love that was reciprocated by every man on his roster--even the offensive players. I must admit, I went through a few tissues. The city of Chicago took on the personality of this fearsome group and we were caught up in the insanity with them. There are so many more stories and sidebars that could have been told here. It's no wonder the '85 Bears live on in myth and might among their legion of sycophants like me.

A Look Back at a Memorable Championship Team
This "30 for 30" episode chronicles one of the most memorable single-season NFL teams of the Super Bowl era, the 1985 Chicago Bears. The DVD recalls the franchise's rise from its futility of the early '80s—defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan was retained, head coach Mike Ditka was hired, the championship defense was forged, and more offensive weapons were obtained to augment Walter Payton. Ditka and key players from the team offer insights, and the episode recalls key regular-season games, the playoffs, and the Super Bowl. The team's vivid personalities brought the team more national and off-field attention than normal champions received, and the episode closes by opining on why the team only won one title and by noting the post-football health problems of some of the Bears. The episode would be enjoyed by NFL fans old enough to remember the team as well as by younger fans interested in the history of the league.

Raw, tell it like it was story telling.
As I said, raw, tell it like it was story telling. For those '85 Bear lovers and Bear lovers regardless of a win loss record. These guys speak the truth, so don't be surprised. The NFL or ESPN or Chicago Tribune or whoever told the stories over the years, the coaches, players and staff are telling you the tales now. Some is what couldn't be said back then. Some will raise an eyebrow, some will have you in tears perhaps, but it's life and it was a life all of us Bear fans (even in Wisconsin holding our own Packer pride for no other reason than we were cheeseheads). We were proud of these Bears. Egos aside, they got it done and in many ways, broke records. We were proud of these Bears.

Greatest defense of all time in NFL history.
Love watching this from time to time. 1985 Bears will never be beaten by any other teams for its greatest defense ever. No way. It's impossible, sorry. Go Da Bears

Leadership and Teamwork!
I am not a huge football fan, but I love this documentary! My wife even enjoys it. We have watched it many times. Who would not like a story about one of the most amazing sports teams to ever come together. I am not referring to the Chicago Bears, I am referring to the players and defensive coach that made up the 1985 Chicago Bears.I never claim loyalty to a brand or company. I give no loyalty to anything that can’t give loyalty back. I only give loyalty to people and that is what we see with the 1985 Bears. They were a true “team.” They broke the rules and were dysfunctional in all the right ways! This is not just a great documentary centered on football, it is a great one about leadership and working as a team!

Interesting but sad in the end.
This is an interesting overview of the '85 Bears and their almost perfect season. It features interviews with Ditka, Singletary, McMichaels, Covert, McMahon and taped interviews with Buddy Ryan (he was in his last years when this was filmed.)It's sad though. Walter Payton's sickness and early death (at 45); Buddy Ryan's multiple strokes and cancer; McMahon's memory problems; and also what might have been- one of the best teams in football that should've won multiple Superbowls but didn't. It's a good watch. Also someone has uploaded about 80% of the '85 Bears games to YouTube; look 'em up if you're interested in Da Bears.

Regalo

Big Bad Bears
What a superb and moving film, the love and affection from the players for ex coach Buddy Ryan is there for all to see, in the film Buddy was immobile and could hardly talk, he died recently, can imagine the grief, no such love for Head Coach Mike Ditka, very strange. What a team the Bears were, I highly recommend this film which highlights the dangers of the game as well, brain damage, suicides all come to the fore.

A must watch
Great film about the team that should have won more. A must for Bears and NFL fans. One of the best in 30 for 30.

This DVD does not play in UK!!
I fully read all details about this DVD and all customer reviews but nowhere did I find that it would not play in the UK. This DVD did not play in the UK and my daughter, (Bears were her favourite team whilst she was growing up) was really disappointed. She watched a Bears DVD in October 2018 on a flight to NYC and I thought it would be a lovely surprise to put in with her Christmas, so very disappointed, especially after carefully checking all details about DVD on Amazon UK. DVD has one star as review would not submit unless a star was awarded.
