Like several other users, I found the setup to be more difficult than it needed to be. The standard instructions that came with the device did not end up working for my situation, and I only wanted wifi connectivity, not use with Alexa or Google. Not sure if my issues are the same as others are experiencing, but here's what I ended up doing to connect to my 2.4Ghz router:1. You may be asked to input the password for your wifi router during the process, so have it available before you begin setup. You will need to locate the "WPS" button on your wifi router before beginning.2. Download, install, open the Smart Life app on your phone.3. Plug the smart plug in to a working electrical outlet and press the power button to turn it on, you should see the blue (and green) light come on.4. Just before beginning the next step, click the "WPS" (wifi protected setup) button on your wifi router. Most WPS buttons must be pressed and held for several seconds, then you'll feel/hear a soft 'click,' this lets you know the router is now looking for your device. You normally have about a minute and a half to complete the rest of the setup.5. Now in the app, click "Add" or "+" to add a smart device, choose 'manual,' and then under "electrician" choose "power strip (other)", and follow instructions. To make the red light on the smart plug blink, press and hold the power button on the smart plug for 5-15 seconds until you feel a soft "click," then release the button -- the red light will start to blink within a few seconds. Pay attention to whether the app says that the red light on the outdoor plug needs to be blinking fast (3 times per second), or slow (1 time per second). If it is blinking slow and instructions say it needs to be blinking fast, just press and hold the power button again until you feel the "click," then release and it will reset itself to the alternate blinking state. Also, pay attention to whether the instructions are asking you to press a button on your smart plug, or your gateway device (wifi router WPS button). You may also be asked to select your smart plug as a wifi connection during setup to briefly connect to the smart plug instead of your wifi router. This is ok, and your phone should switch back to your wifi router when the setup process is complete.6. You can see when the smart plug is connected to wifi by looking at it (the red light will stay on continuously).I hope these instructions are helpful to anyone who has my same connection issues. Now that the plug is connected, I am able to view and control it as expected. I'll update my review once I've used the plug for a month or so.

So I have been doing IT work for 18 years. I have installed and configured many IoT devices. I have a full smart home using IoT and smart plugs. Some of which even use the Smart Life app this device needs. Every device I have setup works the same. Hold the button, pair it to the 2.4Ghz network, and boom, connected. Not these. I bought two of these for my Christmas lights, and I cannot get either of them to connect. Thought maybe it was configuration. I found another device I had laying around that is not intended for outdoor use, paired it on the first try using the same method. I gave up trying to connect these for a while. I tried to connect them again after waiting a couple hours, and they connected this time. Not sure what the issue was, but they seem to be working for the moment. Will update in a month or so on their durability.

I needed an outdoor smart plug to operate our Halloween decorations. I wanted it to be compatible with Alexa and be able to use on a schedule.I picked this up and was able to get it configured within five minutes. You fist need to connect it to the Smart Life app--which is free, and then you can connect it as a device in the Alexa app. I set up a routine to have the smart power strip come on at a certain time and go off at a certain time.It seems like it would be somewhat water resistant, but I have mine on my front porch, which is mainly out of the elements, so I can't say for sure. If you are going to have it totally exposed to rain and snow, I would pick up one of these waterproof exterior boxes typically used for Christmas light extension cords, just to be safe.So far no issues. I feel it could have been a little cheaper, but I am overall happy with it.

This product works as listed. I have under-deck lighting that I like to turn on/off from the top of the deck and there is not a switch for this. I have a plug that my string lights plug into and wanted to control them from my phone. Well after reading through the instructions, it was not hard to connect and not only do I control them from my phone, I also can control them with my Amazon fire stick. I do not have the Alexia home or speaker thing, I just have the fire stick 4K and I say Outside on or Outside off and it works like a charm. It says I can even have 2 separate plugs turn on and off under its options, I have not needed to do this. I will say go for it and get this plug, it is a great buy.

This Smart plug outlet was purchased to turn-on/off the heat tape on our roof to keep snow and icicles from forming on roof edges...even when we are not at home. Took a trip out of country in Dec and were able to see weather forecasts on phones and turn heat tape on/off as necessary. Last year we came home to quite a icicle problem that never cleared during cold winter. THIS YEAR No Problem thanks to this product. Fairly easy to set-up with Wi-Fi capability. Highly Recommend!!

I have been wanting a Wi-Fi connected outlet for outdoor use. But then hard to find one that fits well with my outdoor outlet casing. This one have a good slim plug that fit my casing perfectly. Connecting it with my Wi-Fi is very easy and pretty stable connection, at least better than my smart thermostat. No random disconnect observed so far. Hoping it to last for a long time.

This outdoor smart plug is a GAME. CHANGER. I am trying to improve our Christmas light setup this year and have had one oof those manual timer plugs for years. Without fail the timer would get thrown off or messed up. The smart plug is amazing. It is so easy to use with the included app. I attached a screen shot of the app, it is very easy to install and use, it literally took under 5 minutes. I can now control the whole setup from my phone. It already survived its first Nor'easter as well!! Definitely need this plug for outdoor setups.
