You don't know what you're missing. AMAZING mouse pad!!
I had been looking at this for a long time. I had no idea what I was missing. I have a logitech laser mouse (sorry, I don't know they model) and had been using the surface of a Lifetime table for the last five months. The table worked well until one day when I scrubbed the surface to clean it off. After I did that the mouse never worked the same way on the desk surface. Then I moved on to a shoe box that I had had sitting in the closet for the last two years. That actually worked very well. However, having your mouse pad six inches higher than your elbow or keyboard was not a permanent solution. Not being a fan of mouse pads in the first place, I relented and bought this. The whole time it was shipping I just told myself I was going to return it. I took it carefully out of the packaging incase I actually did return it. I played one round of CS:GO and told myself "Wow, this is what it feels like to game on a PC." I have never used such a smooth surface. Normally when I aim the texture of the surface the mouse sits on makes me have to really concentrate on hand movement. Not on this. This thing is slick as butter.I have used plastic mouse pads in the past at places I have worked. I was never amused or desirous to see if there was anything better out there. What I had used would slide all over the desk making it very annoying to the point where you just want to throw it away and partly blame your mouse at the same time. This mouse pad doesn't feel cheap, it stays in place, the rubber on the bottom feels the way you would expect it to feel. I didn't expect it to be so slim. It almost looks like it is part of the desk when you step back and look at it after having used it.To those asking about durability, I can tell this thing is going to last. Back to the plastic mouse pads, the cheap ones that you might have used actually has a plastic film on top that eventually wears out. Those are the ones where you see the plastic curling up at the edges. When you look closely at those pads you rally that there are a minimum of three layers. The top layer is more of a surface to slide the mouse over, the second layer provides the reflective properties that that an optical or laser mouse needs, and the third layer is more of a foam that it is rubber. Fabric pads are basically solid rubber with a fabric surface on top. When that fabric on top starts to wear the mouse starts to lose precision. This pad had a solid plastic top with good quality rubber on the bottom. In terms of quality, if you are using it as a mouse pad and just for that, this thing will last for years. I have only used this for a day, but I can tell you that this is not a dirt sponge. Cleaning it should be infrequent if you are using it on a daily basis. If you do need to clean it you can probably just dust it off (unless you spilled something on it, then water would be just fine). The last thing about quality is that this thing is solid. It doesn't really flex at all. If you pick it up on the edge, it isn't going to flop anywhere. If you take it to LAN parties, you will want to make sure to be cautious of how you are moving it. I could see this snapping if you aren't being mindful about your handling of this pad during transit. Anyways, if you leave it on your desk, this things will last for a long time. Again, this is solid plastic and you are not going to find s surprise in the middle after six months of heavy gaming. It is plastic and rubber.I have gone on long enough. If you need a good, positive experience with a mouse pad, this is not one to miss. I don't really see how a pad can get any better. I know steel series use to make an aluminum pad that was close to $70. This is a very high quality product with a low entry price. If you need a better experience when you are gaming you should be rushing to buy this.

pretty good, even if you're not a gamer
Like some of the other reviewers, i'm not a gamer. But i do enjoy having a large area to work with when it comes to my mouse, and a mat is a necessity for me because my desk is glass and the keyboard tray has holes in it.I spent quite some time finding a mouse mat that worked well for me -- i hate the fabric ones (too slow and 'sticky'), and i hate the cheap vinyl/plastic ones as well (too slick, no traction at all), so that rules out most of the general-purpose pads available. I eventually settled on a piece of thin cardboard, which, despite being kind of ghetto, actually worked incredibly well. The texture of hard cardboard is almost perfect for me. But... cardboard absorbs moisture very easily, and a combination of summer humidity and a year of contact with my hand has ruined it. So i started looking for a real mat, and after first looking at Razer's offerings (most of my friends are gamers, so it was the first company that sprang to mind), i decided on this.Since i am not a gamer, i naturally don't have any idea about the ideal surface for quick movements or whatever, so i can't comment on that. All i can comment on is how well it works with my mouse (currently a Mighty Mouse, soon to be upgraded to a Magic Mouse) and how it compares to previous surfaces i've used.First of all, the pad looks very nice. I'm sure a lot of people don't care about that, but it was a factor for me, and it's one of the reasons i didn't like Razer's mats -- they were all too 'extreme'-looking. Ideally i'd like something with a bit more of a creative design (are you listening, mouse-mat people :/), but this will do too.One thing i don't like is the little curve at the bottom of the pad. I'm not sure what it's for, i suppose it must be to prevent compression of your wrist, but that's not an issue for me. It just kind of bothers me, it's so subtle that it almost looks like it was un-intended, like maybe somebody couldn't keep their scissors straight when they were cutting the mat. Minor irritation. The texture of the surface is what i would consider smooth, but it has a slight friction too. It's definitely more 'grippy' than a standard vinyl mat, but not greatly so. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the smoothest/fastest vinyl mat and 10 being the slowest fabric mat, i would put it at maybe 4. (On that same scale my piece of cardboard would probably have been a 5 or 6, so this is definitely an increase in 'quickness' for me.)As far as tracking, i haven't noticed any issues with either my LED-based wired Mighty Mouse or my laser-based wireless Mighty Mouse. No jumping or sliding or anything like that. The backing is nice, much better than the old-fashioned fabric/vinyl mats i've used. I haven't had any problems at all with the mat slipping. The size is almost perfect, it fits the 'depth' (front to back) of my keyboard tray almost perfectly. I do wish it were slightly thinner, but it's probably not a wish i would be willing to back up with more money, so that's fine i guess.Speaking of money, this would be my main complaint with the mat, although it's not a huge one. I definitely am happy with the purchase, but for what is essentially a simple sheet of plastic, i think maybe 18 or 20$ would be the worth i'd assign to it. I realise gaming mats are kind of a niche product, though, so i guess it's not surprising that it's a little more expensive -- and it is MUCH cheaper than most of Razer's mats (which was the other factor in not getting one).Overall i'm happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a mid- to large-sized mouse mat for general use. Whether it's good for games, again, i can't say

Buen mousepad

Not bad, not bad
It's stupidly hard to find a hard mouse mat for less than £30. Unfortunately I wouldn't call this a "hard" mat, the proper term would be "stiff".I bought it because I game in an armchair (due to space limitations) with the laptop on my lap and a mouse mat on the arm of the chair. Up until now I've had a solid plastic mat, about A4 letter sized, that we got at work as part of someone's marketing scheme. It was perfect but after a time the surface bubbled and broke, to the point it's so uneven the mouse wobbles and tracking is unreliable. This mat doesn't really suit the purpose perfectly, I'm using the old mat under it to keep it flat, but moving the mouse has a beautiful glide and its grip on the surface below it is solid. It's stupid actually. The type of mat I want you can get in bulk for about £0.80 but there's a £70 ordering fee. Tempting to open a shop as there seems to be a lot of people looking for a cheap, hard mat and zero supply for consumers.
