The measurement for this product is listed as 9.4 inch by 9.4 inch by 2.2 inch high:  why the style name called rectangle?  please confirm dimension!

IT'S SQUARE EXACTLY THE DEMENSIONS YOU'VE DESCRIBED. AMAZON SEEMS TO BE NOT SORTING OUT THINGS AS MUCH AS THEY USED TO AND THAT'S WHY REVIEWERS SHOULD SPECIFY THE PRODUCT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT. THIS IS A GREAT CONTAINER BTW, I HAVEN'T USED THE STEAMING VEGES PART WHICH IS JUST A REMOVABLE  PLASTIC SCREEN TO KEEP VEGES ABOVE THE WATER, BUT FOR HEATING UP FOOD IT'S GREAT AND I'M HAPPY.

How do you remove the scaley "pock" marks that I find after dishwasher cleaning?

My experience has been that those white scaly pock marks are a result of microwaving.  If you're m'waving something like soup or chili that has some fat content that rises to the top, and you heat it  to boiling, it can create a ring around the inside of the container that is permanent - as if the plastic begins to peel away where the fat layer was.  I love these containers, but am now more selective about how I use them for reheating.

Can I make an omelet in this...  3 eggs & cheese?

Not specific to this product- but I have ONLY made omelettes in microwaves. And often I don't care if it looks like an omelette when done and just mix it all up together. It tends to be less dry if not left flattened out.

Cooking in microwave works well. No need to add oil or butter to cook (maybe light coat to protect this  product and avoid permanent lines, but not required to cook it)

Cooking time: Stay close by. This cooks fast.

My recipe:
I take 2-3 eggs, mix with about 1-1/2 Tbp of milk ( your choice, I use whole milk), add about 1 Tbp of Philadelphia cream cheese for two eggs, a little extra for three. It isn't going to mix smoothly. expect a lump. ( cream cheese can help keep omelette from being too dry).

Put in microwave safe fairly flat container and cook just to where it is starting to get harder and remove. I then take the softened cream cheese lump and more eventually distribute it around the omelette. Or if you are just making it hash-style, break up the lump and mix it in better.

At this point, I add veggies ( green peppers, mushroom slices, artichoke pieces, fresh basil, diced green onion, diced squash), pre-cooked meats ( such as bacon bits, ham, sausage), and cheese (such as cheddar, feta, swiss, gouda, mozzarella or provolone). Make sure any veggies going in are well drained first. The more you add, the longer this needs to cook. I add pepper. ( for me, I leave off salt).

It is done when eggs are almost set to your preference, a couple minutes, maybe even a minute- you probably don't want eggs overcooked.

Once out of microwave, I fold to create the omelette and cover with shredded cheese and put back in microwave until cheese melts - about  a minute.

Out of oven. I serve with hot sauce,  salsa, Tbp of sour cream ( low fat)  and prepared guacamole, or avocado slices.

Adjust time accordingly to amount of ingredients and your microwave and even your altitude.  You can keep opening microwave door and make sure not overcooking.

there is hot burning water in the tray after you use it.  you have to pour it out. and the food splatters all over!

I hope I understand your question but you only use the steaming tray if you are steaming an item not if you are heating an item or rewarming, Etc. When you are steaming, say vege like cauliflower, you would remove the vege and then remove the tray, hot water should be under the tray. The sistema container makes its own moisture when it is reheating food items, no need to use the included tray.
