Netted Lace: Techniques and Patterns (Milner Craft Series)

Did not give good describing directions.

Although I'm not sure I'd recommend this book for novice netters, experienced "networkers" will most certainly find it inspiring. For those of you new to the craft, YouTube has many videos (good and bad) showing the basic knots as made when making fishing/casting nets. The principle is identical. That said, the patterns in this book are elegant and inventive, but they only include instruction for making the net, not the filet work which ornaments many of them.

This best book on netting lace hands down. I have been making most forms of lace for years and recently had the opportunity to learn this one from another lacemaker. I picked this up because I liked the diversity in patters and styles, but also found it to have some of the best explanations for how to make the stitch and such. I still feel that having an actual teacher is best - especially with this form, but this book is a brilliant aid.

It is mostly different designs of netted lace and only a small amount of embroidered lace (lacis). I find the basic instructions a little scanty but the pictures are absolutely awesome.

Excellent book, has the whole 9 yards, great patterns to learn netting techniques and "stitches". With tis book and a bunch of practice you to can be netting great stuff. Really, it is a good book, the best I've found on the subject. Susi

The pictures are amazing! Lace eye candy. I haven't tried to make anything yet, but I think the instructions will get me through.

I am very excited to see the patterns in this book. It gives me an idea of what can be done with netting.

内容は、道具の紹介・基本のテクニック・ループを交差させる事などで出来る幾つかのネットの紹介・エジング、などが掲載されていますが、何より多いのが円形の物でした。今まで目にしてきたフィレレースの本に多いのが方眼編レースのような格子状のネットに刺繍を施した物、中心からグルグル編んでいくパターンが載ってる本は少ないので、これは買って良かったです。ただ、作り方の説明が全て文章(一周目なんミリのスティックを使って何ループ、二周目なんミリのニードル…)+写真なので英語読解して編む必要があります。なんミリのニードルとかスティックと言う道具が日本で販売されてるフィレの道具に入っていないので、代用できる物を探さないと。揃えば写真に目を凝らしながら、文章と照らし合わせば編めそうです。24mmなどの目板を使った毛糸のショールやスカーフも掲載されていました。最後に少しだけ格子ネットに刺繍するパターンもあります。
