Awesome Program! I lost 20 inches in 5 weeks!
I started using this book and I also purchased her videos from her t-tapp website. I will tell you that I have lost a few pounds over the last month and 1/2, but I have lost almost 20 inches!!! This is incredible for me. I actually gained a few pounds when I very first started. I think it was my body going into shock and holding water - that has since past (hang in there if this happens to you!). I H.A.T.E. to exercise!!! Have I mentioned I HATE to exercise???!!! It hurt to exercise, and in most videos that I have found, some of the moves were just agonizing for me and my joints. Now granted, I am not too terribly old (45), but I have neglected myself for years due to I felt there was nothing (exercise wise) out there for me. UNTIL I found t-tapp. I started with this book and the DVD in the back, then I ordered the Basic Workout Plus. I did that 14 days straight. Then I did it every other day for a week and half. I ordered Stepping Away the Inches and started using that between 3rd-4th week and WOW what a difference! She goes step by step on how you need to do the full muscle activations during the session. This helped me with my posture and form. This is when the inches really started coming off. I am down a size in pants but 2 sizes in most shirts. I have pecs now--- I have never had those, even when I was in HS when I lifted weights. Go figure! This is the first WO series that I have seen results and felt better! I will be purchacing more videos. If you are looking for a fitness program that you can stick with, this one is it. If you are looking for a program that is `gentle on joints, no extra weights, and enjoyable for kids up to 100 year olds - this is it! You can modify it, you can change it up, you can make it work for you. Please try this! I am NOT paid to write this review, I am an excited customer who found a wonderful, honest program!

Great method, but you need more than this book to get into Ttapp
I've been Ttapping for a bit over a year, and although I haven't had the dramatic results many people have (it seems that if you're middle-aged and average weight, you're less likely to see such dramatic changes), but it's helped me stay in shape as well as my previous weight lifting did, and with less time and inconvenience, and no bulking up. Theresa Tapp's method is truly ingenious. But to learn it, you'll need more than this book. The book is a good general-audience intro to the method and its history, but the Total Workout is hard to follow from the book. There are people who've somehow managed to do it, but even though I'm pretty good at following directions, following the many-step directions for each exercise in written form was tedious and difficult. So you really need to supplement the book with a DVD or two sold on the Ttapp site. As for the DVDs, aside from the Basic Plus Workout and the Total Workout, Stepping Away the Inches provides a good intro, being quite easy to follow, but with the same posture basics that apply to all the other workouts. I would also recommend anyone interested in Ttapp to look at the many videos available on You Tube and to read the posts on the Ttapp Forums. Learning as much as you can about the method will facilitate getting the most out of it. Once you start using the videos, the book is a good reference to go back to for learning more about specific moves, and to make sure you're doing them right.

Yes You Can
It sounds too good to be true, but it is true! I bought this book along with the Barefoot basic + DVD. After only 2 weeks, I have lost 13.5"! 5 of those inches were off of my stomach! I recommend getting both the book and a DVD. The dvd that comes with this book is just a couple moves, not the full workout. The full workout is described with pictures in chapters 4 and 5. I suggest reading these chapters to learn proper form, but then exercising with a DVD.

Teresa Tapp's program is amazing. Give it a try.
After four children I was tired, out-of-shape, and feeling pretty hopeless that I would ever have the time or energy to be fit again. T-Tapp changed all that. Not only did I reshape my body in fifteen minutes a day but several old injuries started to rehabilitate. My posture improved. My energy improved. It's now been 6 years since I discovered T-Tapp and I still am convinced it's the best thing out there. This book is incredibly inspiring and will help you believe that Yes You Can! I highly recommend it to anyone who is short on time, short on energy, has inflammation or injuries. I have gotten more relief and rehabilitation from T-Tapp than I have from several physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists. Worth every penny.

DVD's Better than the Book
Unfortunately, I bought the book before spending the money on the DVDs. I like the DVDs and find they are easier to follow than trying to do these exercises from the book. Good information, but if you plan to exercise, I say, spend the money on the DVD's and skip this book.

T Tapp is giving me back my energy
I had no energy after my husband died. I stayed home and on the couch for two months. My blood pressure was high for the first time even though I only weigh 100 lbs. My doctor said it was stress brought on by his death and months of care giving after his tragic accident. Grief was literally killing me but I had no energy or motivation to exercise. T Tapp saved me. I knew I could do a three minute hoe down. I felt better. Then I did the 15 minute workout and noticed I didn't wake up depressed and was virtually free of back and neck pain. It's saved my life... given me back the will to live.

Not a good starting point - DVD is not related to the book
I am going to try to review the product first and then a program.Product is a book that primarily consists of extremely positive reviews (changes in looks, health changes - insuline, hormones etc). Exercises get explained a lot later in the book and there are a lot of them... I can't imagine anybody doing an exercise and stopping several times to read...The DVD present with the book doesn't contain the basic workout or the total body workout. Instead it contains a 'The Secret to a Flat Stomach' ~ 15 minutes + Hoe Down (T Tapp signature move that looks like Bollywood dancing).Based on all this, I really can't recommend this product as the introduction to T-Tapp, if you are very curious, buy Basic Workout Plus (or Total Workout since the first part is Basic Workout so you can stop once you finish that). Both these have a part with instructions and a faster part, if after you need more info, the book might be the place to look.I have bought the DVDs directly from T-Tapp site (and ended up paying customs charge). No idea why Amazon doesn't stack them. Now the program - Total body workout.Everything is done standing up, no equipment needed. You also don't need a lot of room. The program insists on correct form. Theresa says that program is suitable for everybody - every physical ability and every weight. She even recommends it for rehab for some medical conditions. It is not a static program with millions of repetitions, there are usually 8, 4 or 2 (that really bugged me a lot on the DVD, I thought everything was 8 but for some there were only 4 repetitions, also if something is done twice, in the second round the number of repetitions is either same or smaller with no cueing). There was no music and production values were low.Moves often look silly (and provide entertainment for family members). It is fair to say the program is an acquired taste. There is an aerobic element to it.In a lot of exercises, blood goes to your head. In the ones with spinal twists there are no detailed instructions what remains static and what twists (there is only emphasis on basic posture and tucking the pelvis) so I tried to figure that out based on dvd and the book but... I think that is quite tricky for anybody suffering from sciatica. The other element that I liked was that by trying to engage multiple muscles, I could see why the program was efficient. My upper back was quite engaged and I really liked that aspect. Also, in some exercises, I could really feel muscles that I didn't feel in other programs. My thighs are much leaner and less bulky (with circuit training - 30 day shred for example I tend to end up with bulky thighs). There is a lot of bending and blood flowing to the head. I have to admit that I am not fond of bending because of my weight which is concentrated in stomach area so I find it hard to breath... Don't really know how all these people on the video who look similar to me sound so happy.Stretching is an area that I don't know how to comment on. There are some stretches but I felt that thigh and calf muscles were not stretched at all.I have no idea how people ended up with spectacular reviews (2 weeks results). I can only imagine they were bloated and not fat so this managed to decrease the bloat?I have been doing it for a month - 2 weeks every day and the rest close to 5 time per week. I usually did a 15 minutes variant, and at least 2 times per week the longer (52 minutes) variant. Results: I didn't measure myself (you are supposed to measure 14 different places). I have a lot to lose (size 18). I didn't go down a dress size and nothing became looser. Weight didn't change. I started experiencing sciatica (I don't know if that is due to exercises or horrible cold weather). Nothing spectacular, definitely can't compare myself to any testimonials.I don't know if it will work for you. I can recommend it for people who do no exercise - 15 minutes is better than nothing and everybody can fit it in a day.

Refreshingly different approach to fitness and flexibility. Recommended
Teresa Tapp writes compellingly about her own battle with back pain and searching for a method to help relieve it. Her insight into the modelling industry also made sense of my body proportions and (rather bizarrely) made me feel much better about the fact that I can't touch my toes - it's because my legs are so much longer than the rest of me!

Good reference book for the exercises
At the same time, the pictures take some studying in order to understand them, so that learning the exercises is not easy. A DVD with more exercises on it would be appreciated. Still, a lot of times it's handier to have a book so you don't have to have electronic equipment with you every time (or place) you want to exercise. I do not do the entire workout, and the exercises I ultimately do are a mixture of the basic workout in the book and some key exercises on the "Try Before You Buy" T-Tapp webpage. The good thing about the T-Tapp method is that the techniques really are effective. The book dedicates quite a few pages to testimonials.

T tap exercise programme
Bit disappointed that DVD had very little in the way of helping you understand the basics of this programme. A lot of reading for do before you can grasp the idea of the programme. For really dedicated people.

Great Motivator!
Love that the exercices and the advice are no-nonsense common sense and really back to basics for great results. This second-hand copy did not come with the advertised dvd - which was a disappointment - but if you go to the web site you can see the exercises in action with Teresa. Makes a whole lot of difference when you do them properly, shame the dvds are not available in the uk yet. Been a week, feeling great, lost 7.5 inches.
