Electro-Voice RE20 Microphone Kit with Shockmount, Two-Section Broadcast Arm and Microphone Cable

Everything was well packaged. The RE20 definitely needs a lifter like the fethead or cloudlifter. Very smooth sounding mic!!!

The headline sums it all up fairly neatly; the value of the bundle was well worth it when I purchased it. The EV RE-20 is a mic built on decades of experience and it shows. The boom arm and shock mount, while perhaps being a bit 'basic,' do the job just fine.It is worth noting that the RE-20 IS a gain hungry mic, be sure your equipment can feed that hunger, less you will sound quiet. It also does not use Phantom Power, do not feed it such less you risk damaging the mic.

I spent 41 years in radio and THIS is the mic I used for most of those years. It is, bar none, THE best microphone for voice work of all kinds. Look to the pros, look for pictures of the DJ's at your favorite station and chances are you will see them seated behind this very microphone. In my extensive experience, you can not find a better mic at or below this price anywhere, which is why it is the preferred choice of thousands of radio stations. The shock mount and two-section broadcast arm are also professional designs and an excellent bonus to have!

This package is pretty good. The "knockoff" Auray shockmount in this bundle has a rubber gasket, unlike the Electrovoice version. This makes the Auray arguably better than the Electrovoice shockmount, which can damage the microphone's finish.We all know what the RE20 is and how well it works. No issues here.The broadcast arm, on the other hand, is mediocre. It's a fair deal for the price, but it isn't very robust. The clamp is a bit flimsy. The tension adjustment is difficult to tune, you will need a phillips head screwdriver to hold the retention screw in place while you adjust the knob. After adjustment, it had no problem holding the mic. The arm itself does not fit snugly in the clip, it does wobble unless tightened down - but if you tighten it, the arm cannot rotate in the clamp. FYI the cable is integrated into the arm, and is of decent (but not great) quality.

This kit is absolutely amazing! I like every part of it. I was going to use my Rode psa1 with the microphone and shock mount from this kit, but this mount has the ability to tighten the base. That allowed me to keep it up to my face better. I am using this kit, scarlet 2i2, and a cloudifier. I walk on the treadmill while streaming on twitch and this microphone + the clear gain from the cloudifier make it so you can only hear my voice. Only downside is the XLR cable that is actually in the arm. Wish it was not there so I could replace it easily if it goes bad or if I want to use a better cable.

This microphone makes you sound like a radio personality. It is clear and highly directional. I found that I needed a microphone preamp to boost this level prior to the mixer. (It is a dynamic mic.) The boom arm and shockmount are also really great.

This is the type of mic we use at work. It sounds equally awesome when I use it at home in my makeshift booth, using an iRig and my cellphone to record tracks. Definitely worth the cost. Sturdy as a rock!
