Shea Is My BFF For LIfe!!!
this product came on time and looked just as pictured. the shea block was in a heavy plastice bag and then packed in the box. this grade of shea butter at this price is a great deal and last me quite a while. i have sensitive skin, and i don't like to fuss around my bed and bath with a gazillion different products. honestly it's the only moisturizer i ever need and i can use it head to toe literally and i even like the natural smell. when i want to smell special i mix a little extra virgin olive oil and a couple drops of the essential oil of my choice...i make a very small batch and keep it refrigerated for the next time i want to smell fancy. the end result for me has been....beautiful shiny hair with minimal breakage that won't stop growing and clear even skin on my face as well as the rest of my body. i have been using shea butter for about 5 years now and rarely use anything else. i even take my shea with me when i'm getting manicures and pedicures and ask them to use it instead of their lotions and creams.....they usually use something cheap that either leaves my skin dry or gives me a damn rash anyway. i can't stress enough especially if you have delicate skin....it's a good idea to warm it in a sauce pan (to sterilize) and strain it through a cheese cloth before you use it. afterwards i pour the melted shea into a couple of glass jars with a wide open mouth that have an airtight seal and store all of it in the fridge except for the jar that i plan to use daily. this helps it not to turn white. i've been told there's nothing wrong with it if it turns white, i just don't like it because the smell changes. one more thing, i think it's the combination of using the dudu osun black soap on my hair and skin and the raw shea butter as my head to toe moisturizer that's made a difference for me. but i won't go too deep into that, i'll just leave a review for them on their page.

Awesome value for product
I've never used shea butter before, but I went straight for the raw material and so far I LOVE it!!! I've mysteriously had terrible acne problems the last 3-4 months. I was already using semi-organic products (as "natural" as you can find int he stores) but it just wouldn't go away. So I bought a new cleanser from 100% Pure (also an awesome product btw) and an exfoliating brush (not the electric kind, just one with natural bristles) and started using the shea butter as an all-over moisturizer: face and body. My skin has never felt so soft or healthy!!! Even my feet! I have combination skin and have been skipping the morning wash and just washing my face at night when I shower and it seems to be working. About a week and skin is clearing up! I gave you the whole spiel because it's hard to isolate which exact product is helping the most, but the combination seems to be doing wonders and the butter is definitely wonderful. It IS a bit thick and can be a little hard to rub on. I've found putting some in my hands and rubbing together vigorously softens it up enough with the heat from the friction to apply. I also found videos/blogs online that describe different methods for "whipping" the butter with other natural ingredients such as essential oils to make it fluffier and easier to apply - definitely going to try this! I would recommend tea tree or peppermint oils for those with acne problems as these naturally discourage bacteria. Lavender is always a nice option too :) Just make sure you get good quality oils - they are not all created/distilled equal(ly).

Very different but effective and quite a value
I'm the perpetual seeker of the secret beauty cure, searching high and low for that thing that only certain people know about-- Something that actually works and has value. I ordered this and the black ghana soap from Amazon a few weeks ago. Post holiday blues were setting in and I wanted a fresh change in my beauty routine to start the New Year. So after a little research, I ordered these two items on a whim. My hopes were not wasted on these beauty helpers. The soap is great (review on that separately) and this Shea butter is quite good. The photo is exactly the way it looks. It is very sticky and heavy, so I can't imagine using directly on my fine hair (I'm Italian and French). I cut off a chunk of the Shea butter and melted it in on half power in the microwave (covered with a paper towel-it splatters). Mixed it in (half-to-half ratio) with my favorite-paraben free cheapo suave lotion and now made it more usable. The smell is somewhat nutty and non-offensive. It's been 20 degrees and windy and the lotion keeps my hands soft and smooth. After checking several internet sites, I also semi-softened (microwaved) two cups and whipped the Shea butter into a smoother consistency. Put into a covered plastic container and use this as a skin conditioner. I recommend this product, but you've got to put the effort into reformulating it into a more handy consistency or you will end up with a sticky chunky mess on your bathroom counter. My only concern is that everyone will start discovering this and buy up the supply or send the prices soaring! Maybe I should get another five pounds. . . .
