Love it!
This book is PERFECT for my current level of German knowledge. For years I’ve been using apps on my phone, but still felt I was missing something. I’ve purchased other German books before, but they were too difficult and made me feel like I didn’t know anything. This book is, for me, the perfect level of difficulty.

it's ok, but maybe shop harder
This is a nice idea. The stories do get a bit harder s you go through them. Some are cute some bit weird, like the one about the young woman who can't afford to fix up the house she inherited, so she squirts gasoline around, burns the place down, and walks away. What I find bothersome is that a good idea is handled sloppily. In each chapter the supposed new words are boldfaced, and the translations are at the end of the chapter, in the order theywere encountered in the story. The problem is, in many if not most chapters, some of the boldfaced words don't appear in the chapter glossary, or appear out of order. This is not fatal (you'll need a dictionary anyway) but can sometimes be frustrating and, to me, suggests that the book ws not well proofread -- which might mean that there are errors in the text that will confuse a learner. It would also have been a friendly idea to bring all of the glossaries together at the endm in alphabetical order. Where each chapter may have 50 or more new words, it can be difficult, when reading a story and encountering a word that maybe you saw before in an earlier chapter, to find the definition. These are little things, but the frustration makes using the book harder and less pleasant than it should be.

Instructive Fun
These stories are enjoyable to read and help with expanding vocabulary and sentence structure. If I were to find one fault it is that it's impossible to start a project such as this in mid-stream and have a vocabulary that everyone knows and present definitions for new words that are not known to anyone reading the story. I find a dictionary, "Wörterbuch", to be useful in reading the stories.

Awesome effort put together in an interesting learning tool
This is the perfect companion for someone venturing beyond the structured sentences that we see in regular Deutschkurse, it will keep you interested in the story and motivated by your own progress as the phrases and paragraphs start to feel more familiar in time. New vocabulary will have a section in the chapter, as well as a short summary that will also teach you how to extract the main ideas of each story. Five stars.

Super Important for Any German Learner
This book is a great supplement to any German language course and/or anyone learning on their own. Its layout is great: story, summary, translation, vocab. Super helpful material to let you see the language in a contextual way rather than a boring textbook with no context or explanation. Really helped me learn how to read the language and understand the sentence structure in a natural way that rivals what you learn in school

Unpleasant stories
I have used short story books to learn both Italian and German. I am not at a beginner level in either, though, so cannot comment on how effective this is for beginners. The stories in this book are just weird and unpleasant. Those in the various Italian short story books that I've used are much more appealing and one wants to read the next one. I dread reading the next one in this book, but must because we are temporarily using it in a somewhat less formal German class. The worst is about a woman who burns down her own house. The organization is fine and does provide an opportunity to learn more vocabulary. The Kindle edition allows you to translate a word as you read, if you have a dictionary in your Kindle. The tests at the end of the stories are probably easier than they need to be unless you are truly a beginner. I am a solid B level and this may be a little easier than I need which is why I would like it to be more pleasant.

Not for Beginners!!! (Note - the description says that)
Just got the book, and I'm A1, so it's a significant struggle. At the very bottom of the description, it says it's for A2+... So, while I was taken in by the whole "Easy German Stories" like it says on the cover.... notsomuch.
