My oldest child has had issues with fluency. In a moment of desperation, I searched Amazon for the word "fluency" and came up with this book. I winced a little at the higher price, but it has been WORTH IT! The CD makes it easy to print the pages, so I can use it for my younger kids when they get this age. Whether they have issues with fluency or not, it will be a great workbook to have, especially over those school breaks and summer time when it's easy to let studies slip. My daughter's confidence and skill level have increased dramatically. This resource does a great job of breaking a paragraph up into phrases, to help train the brain to recognize how sets of words go together. I'm just so grateful I found this book. I would recommend to anyone, but especially someone who is looking to help their third grader's fluency.

Love this book, really didn't know what to expect from the description, but sure glad I gave it a try. Basically the book works like this: A passage is focused on for each lesson. The disc that the book comes with is an audio version of the passage read for the student. The student does repeated reading/listening and focuses on the tone of voice while reading. Each lesson begins with sentences that help build up to the passage(also read aloud on the disc), as well as tips and meanings. This has helped my daughter not only become a more fluent reader but to also read with expression.

Great way to apply sight words in an authentic text! Some students learn lots of isolated words but then can’t read the same words in connected text. These resources provide effective routines for repeated practice to build fluency with high frequency words AND comprehension practice as well.

Great!!!!! Love it! Perfect for those mom, who are not native English speaking, to help her child with reading fluency. Voice on cd is not beauty but it is clear, you know what he said; and doesn't affect content.

Love this book! I bought the grade one book first and used it so much that I bought the grade 2 also. I am a reading specialist and love that this book can be used for actual teaching (not just a bunch of seatwork) and then the pages make great homework. The CD is nice too. I use the CD in media player to create playlists so that my students listen to just the lessons I want them listen to.

Love how each lesson covers a piece of the fluency puzzle.
