The growth of diverse ethnic populations in urban areas, particularly cities, is a call for the need for the church to change and adapt to the way it serves populations in urban environments. Villafane believes that is absolutely critical that churches recruit and employ and well as diversify their leadership to better serve the populations in urban areas. This involves the empowerment of ethnic leadership and providing the necessary resources to the ethnic church. The author also believes that a calling to accept Christ does not mean the calling to abandon one’s culture. In Villafane’s opinion, this is an important step to winning minorities for Christ. Additionally, Villanfane believes that in order to win minorities for Christ, one must learn as much as possible about a particular group or culture prior to engaging them. Villafane believes that Seminaries must change their curriculum to include and teach monitory members to serve in urban areas. Lastly, Villafane stated that in order to provide a quality education for urban church leadership a seminary and ministry programs must include four aspects: (1) Contextualization, (2) Praxis-focused ministry, (3) grounded in the present, looking to the future, and (4) Servant leadership.

I loved this book. It truly gives the reader a different perspective on the church and urban ministry.
