Beautiful poetry, full of imagery
I recommend. This book is full of beautiful poetry. His words are rooted in the land and in nature: the birds, the hills, the trees, the horses, the flowers, the air, the water. There are poems about the land and memories of the past as well as romantic poems. The translation is not perfect, but translating poems is difficult; I think the overall message wasn’t negatively affected.Heads up, these poems contain some heavy topics; so if you’re avoiding triggering topics, please beware.

University of California press does shotty work again!
this book is quite small and very poorly made. there are much better poetry books out there. why does University of California press make such poorly designed and made books??! And at 29 dollars for a flimsy paperback i just don't get it. doesn't the college make enough money from the students and very high tuition. won't buy another Univ of California press book again...ever.

don't judge this book by its contents
WARNING:only the cover of what I received belongs to palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish's book 'unfortunately, it was paradise'.the entire text is that of a book called 'under the sign of capricorn' by Susan Sontag, a jewish american intellectual.
