Learned lots of new concepts/Reminded of concepts i should be using
What an excellent book! I am a newer Industrial Engineer who came from a machining background. The book is a bit salty on price but you get what you pay for. I am currently trying to reduce our change-over time so we can further reduce our WIP and inventory. Granted, some of this stuff is what i learned in college, some is common sense, but its my strong conviction that everyone will get something that will more than justify the book. All the other stuff was good refreshment and reminders as i audit our setups which is why i recommend this book. Even if you learn nothing new (Which i doubt... but humor me) it sometimes isn't about learning something new, rather it is being reminded and applying something you already knew in a different way or application. Glad i bought it and i am already devising new ways to reduce/standardize our setups.

Great examples to shorten setup time
This book is a classic. The examples of how to shorten setup time are so common-sense and simple. I don't know why every machine shop doesn't do this.

and was in good condition. If you are reading this book for ...
Book arrived in a timely manner, and was in good condition. If you are reading this book for smed ideas on injection molding, I would not recommend it. It has some good ideas and tips, but really does not go into detail on how to attain true set-up time reduction. Ok to read to understand the concepts, but lacks what I was looking for.

Excellent Book.
I have always enjoyed this subject. As an engineer redesigning equipment and processes has always been interesting. You learn how things work and how to make them better. This book outlines a step by step processes to do just that. Good book to learn from and train from.

A great book for Lean thinking
The book communicates the ideas of lean thinking well. As usual, some of the examples are for assembly or molding type manufacturing and need to be deciphered a bit to apply to other types of industries..

A must read
If your job has anything to do with improving efficiencies. Then anything by Shigeo Shingo is a must read. If you believe in theelimination of waste (across all areas) then again, this is a must read

Interesting concept but a little too geeky
I’ve had an interest in Japanese management for a while mainly because of its place in the chain of influence it has on modern software engineering. The chain starts with Taylorism and moves from there to Fordism -> Toyota Production System -> Lean -> Agile -> DevOps.Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) was developed by Mr Shingo to eliminate waste in the process of setting up dies in manufacturing. His methods reduced set-up time from several hours to less than 10 minutes. It supported Taichi Ohno’s vision of one flow processes where multiple varieties of a product can be produced on demand rather than mass production of identical parts. For that reason, this book is interesting. However, it’s a technique very specific to manufacturing and I presume many of the examples described, although relevant for the period in which this book was published, is now dated. However, the concepts are very important and we can learn from Mr Shingo that it is possible to achieve extraordinary reductions in waste through analysing processes and making improvements that may not be evident. For me, this book was too geeky and would probably be of greater interest to an historian of manufacturing. I found Mr Shingo’s A Study of the Toyota Production System a far more insightful and useful book to understand how lean evolved and how following a similar mindset can improve the way we deliver quality software.

Stimmige Methodik.

good book
Good book for individual prospective on industry. But old regards 40 years ago. Possibly changes have been met but I doubt it.

Ok
Il libro è bello. Mi aspettavo qualcosa sulla produzione lean. Ma colpa mia se non avevo capito. Cmq molto chiaro
