A Man Who Lived Many Lives Over The Ages
What a marvelous story of American and Allied history during the World War II. I think most American students are under the impression that it was mainly America against the Axis powers and Japan. We played an important role, but along came Patton and his arch-rival Montgomery of England. And the sand that forms the oyster was put into play with competition between these two warriors. I think MacArthur was the greater planner, but no one matches Patton's willingness to lead by example and literally get in your face. It takes an egomaniac to perform the role of General Patton, and he did it well. So much history which is currently lost to the archives due to lack of space or trivialized in today's slanted text books comes alive in Patton. Read about how he saw and interpeted events. Factual or not in many instances, it is still what drove him to become one of America's greatest field generals. And like MacArthur, he fades away in history, and thanks to the written word, he will never be forgotten, nor should he. He gave his all for his country and he did it well and proudly. It tells things as they actually were and not as the politicians or biographers with agendas would lead you to believe. God bless America and all the free world. George Patton came from a different time in history and culture. And God bless George Patton who gave his all to protect the freedoms of the world.

The eternal warrior
Gen. George S. Patton Jr, was an incredible contradiction. On the one hand, an incredibly gifted military leader, and on the other a man who prayed fervently to the Lord. It is as though Patton existed on a different level from his fellow generals in the war. It seems to me that Gen. Patton lived for the fight, peacetime held nothing for him. When he was disciplined for striking a soldier in a hospital, it doesn't seem to that his motives were wrong. But his methods were indeed incorrect. Gen. George S Patton's death at the end of the war, was all together tragic, but in a strange way not inappropriate. As I mentioned before, a world of peace held nothing for him. He was not a politcal figure as Gen. Eisenhower was, and by his own admission, had no interest in politics. Gen. Patton's world was the world of warfare, I don't think he could have existed in any other world. JRV

Library Book
Some interesting facts, but it was disturbing to find that it was a library book that had not been returned!!! I don't approve of that method of making money.

Excellent Biography
I have a kid who is really into history. This book was perfect for him for a book report. Not too long and just the right amount of detail. For example, we didn't know George Patton's grandfather was a confederate soldier who died in the civil war.David A. Smith (book author) if you are reading this review, please write some more biography books. We love your writing style.

Patton made easy
Very well written, unbiased and accurate biography of the great soldier. It is some 120 pages only. For further reading, I recommend Ordeal and Triumph by Ladislas Farago and A Soldier's Story by Omar Bradley.
