Esschert DesignSwallow's Nest

Two of our nests fell down over winter and one was highjacked by a finch; so since they only had one nest for 5 swallows, we got these as a more permanent solution. We had barely put them up before the couples moved in. Great product and ours came in well wrapped and great condition.

Gray painted terracotta nest glued to a small piece of (probably not exterior rated) OSB. I ordered four, and they were shipped in a box with only a small sheet of brown paper thrown in the box. Two of the nests arrived chipped and two (somehow) made it unscathed. The nests are what I ordered, but the packaging is absolutely terrible. Don't order these until Amazon learns how to ship them properly.

This swallow nest is very well made. The birds will be happy to see it.

Our swallows completed a beautiful nest under our deck again this year and then I storm wiped it out! Thankfully there were no eggs when it crashed to the cement. I ordered this and had it overnighted. Within a day they had put some mud, straw, feathers, etc. in it and made it their new home!Hard to see the mama bird in the first pic but there’s five eggs under her!! (I snapped a quick picture while she was away). So thankful for this nest!!!!! We will be ordering more as they like to nest in groups. The only thing we didn’t see in time (my mistake) was the card where it recommended the ‘space’ recommended between the top of the nest and the overhead item. Thankfully we just gaged it and we were within 1cm so we left it and all is well :)Nicely crafted and shipped just fine. Drainage hole on bottom. We put a contractor bag above the nest on the deck to help the little guys stay dry.

I can't really rate this but I don't want to give it just a one so I will give it a 3. Since I can't leave the star part blank.

This seems to be a good 'alternative' nest for swallows. Overall, a good design. However, my nest was received with one side broken off, because it was shipped in a plastic bag instead of a box. This item is some type of clay or cement, screwed onto wood. It is far too heavy and fragile to be shipped in a bag, and now I have to get some calk to repair it before I can use it.

Very well built nest! I painted the plywood white as I have read the barn swallow likes a white background, and mounted it on my front porch where a couple have been starting a nest right over my front door. I mounted this on one end so it won’t interfere with people going in and out the door. Hopefully they’ll return and discover their new nest soon! I also put some nesting material in the nest, so we’ll see what happens!

I bought these because last year my horse was able to reach the barn swallow nest and tore it down. All the chicks perished and I didn’t want to deal with that sadness again. So I bought these so I could hopefully “control” or “encourage” the birds to nest in an area I made safe. They were installed early spring as directed but the birds decided to build their nest right next to my nest set up and (thankfully) entirely avoided nesting in the horse shed this year. I will update this post if they decide to nest in these next spring.

Dopo un paio di settimane dall'arrivo, la coppia di balestrucci ha individuato la nuova casa e pare abbia deciso di usarla!Facile il montaggio, con viti e tasselli non inclusi nella confezione, ma l'oggetto non è molto pesante e non servono molto grossi.

We bought two of these as we are wildlife enthusiasts. They were fixed to our garage wall, north-facing and at a good height. Both were occupied the same year. One was occupied by a Swallow and the other by a House Martin!!! Unfortunately a bird of prey descended on the nests and caused the birds to leave. All that was visible after the attack was nesting material on the ground directly below the cups. Such a shame. We are thinking about re-siting them. They are of good quality and size.

We had swallows nesting on a central heating air inlet this year which was very precarious although they hatched 4 chicks. Bought this ready-made nest to fix close by for when they return from South Africa next year which they surely will and they'll have a safe stable nest waiting for them on arrival. The nest is made of what seems some sort of concrete and was not centred on the mounting board but this was soon rectified.
