It is sad that you can't find a well built oscillating sprinkler these days. The closest that comes to it is the Dramm sprinklers.I wish I could give it 5 stars, but there are a few inherent problems.1. If you have high water pressure (above 55lbs), you can mess up the gears and it will only oscillate when run at high pressure. Lower pressure results in a sprinkler that won't move.2. The tabs that set the oscillation are pretty much unreliable. If you put one at the middle, and the other at the other extreme, then 9 times out of 10, it will be watering something that you did not intend to water. Add to that, each sprinkler will be entirely different with regards to settings. I have no idea of how to calibrate the sprinkler's watering, so it becomes a literal guessing game when setting up a pattern to water.Dramm makes some very fine professional watering products (Yes, I am a professional gardener and have used said products). But, their consumer line leaves much to be desired.Their only saving grace is that their competitors are much worse.YMMV

Liked the sprinkler but didn't like the condition it was in when it arrived. I will never order this again unless it comes in a box. I want to return it

I purchased this and a couple of other sprinklers from Dramm, and they are all very good. The problem with most all sprinklers you can buy in stores is they are cheap -- cheap in price and cheap in quality. I know, I used to be in the hardware store business, and most of the sprinklers we sold, regardless of brand, were of poor quality. About half of them were returned by the customers as defective within one year. I complained about this to one of my vendors, he said "Oh that's OK, people don't expect sprinklers to last more than a year." I disagree. There used to be good sprinklers made in this country, like L.R. Nelson, but now they are all made in China, probably all in the same factory, and they are all cheap. But the one good sprinkler we used to sell was Dramm. So I was glad to find them here. The price may be higher, but they are heavy-duty, mostly all metal, and they perform well and will last many years. Actually less expensive than buying a cheap sprinkler every year. I am very satisfied with my Dramm sprinklers.

I've been using these ColorStorm Premium Metal Oscillating Sprinklers for quite a few years. When rated against other manufacturers, the Dramms hold up the best. Are they perfect all the time, no but Dramm has stood behind their product the few times I needed assistance.I note some reviewers can't get the arc correct in relation to the settings. They have failed to align the nozzle arm with the small arrow which is the alignment point. (IMAGE) You can't fault Dramm when people fail to read instructions. It's simple, you hold onto the the one part and move the arc until the nozzles line up.I have six ColorStorm Premium Metal Oscillating Sprinklers and needed warranty once. That's pretty good considering the years I have been using them.

I was hoping for "more". I had hoped for ways to adjust the angles of presentation and the widths (by closing off the holes). In trying to get a "pure" right side presentation and a vertical return, I got a 20% angle where I'd hoped for straight. This was to be used in a commercial area, and the spray pattern was necessary to avoid wetting pedestrians with the sprays. So it's average...but to it's benefit, I did get less water on me while setting it up than others like it. I sprayed it with WWD-40 before using as other reviewers mentioned it got stuck after a year or so usage.One terrible comment for Amazon. While I was browsing the various prices do not show until you go to the shopping cart. I do this then go back and look at the next one. Most times deleting at the end before clicking to purchase. But Amazon all of a sudden sent it off as an order! No clicking from ME. So I got one for 50 something dollars when I was about to choose the same model for much less money. Since you have to pay to send it back, it was going to be a pia. Of course it arrived in 2 days...no way to cancel in time that way. So I paid the same as in my local gardening shop. If I remember, I'll add further comments after a year.

In year's past I have bought the lesser quality sprinklers, for the lesser price. They never lasted long at all! Flimsy, poorly made with inferior parts, they literally would stop working.I have had this Dramm working every day since receiving it, for at least 4-5 hours and it has held up perfectly. Still looks, sounds and works like new. Quality parts, quality build. Buy Dramm! Made in the USA!Try their other products also- hoses, watering wands. Glad I discovered them recently.

I got tired of replacing the cheap (actually not so cheap, even the expensive ones didn't work well) sprinklers and decided to spend a little more and get a Dramm- I have other products by them and like them. This sprinkler has worked for 5 years but is now getting stuck in one position. It starts fine, oscillating to both sides, but after I have walked away, it eventually gets stuck. I am ordering another because 5 years is pretty darn good!

This is my second Dramm sprinkler, the first started "sticking" (stops rotating) in the second year of use and the third year became useless. Now this "new" sprinkler has started sticking with one summers use. The plus for this second Dramm sprinkler, is the female hose attachment, it is much larger than the first Dramm and makes attaching the hose much easier. And a second positive note, when the sprinkler rotates, it waters evenly and would get a fives star review. But only rotating correctly for one or two years, no way.Before the Dramm "adventure" I had the top of the line Melnor oscillating sprinkler, actually two of them and they both lasted about two years each. So I had high hopes for the Dramm purchases, but alas, no improvement.After contacting Dramm, I found out that there is a lifetime warranty on the sprinkler "motor" so they are replacing both free of charge. Now this is customer service!!

purchased because although expensive seemed a quality replacement for the normal plastic.It is indeed a quality build, very solid. Just does not work..total waste of money will need to go back to the cheap plastic .

I thought given the cost of these sprinklers and that they were made of metal that they would be of good quality. THEY ARE NOT. I bought 2 of them and I initially used them for about 2 weeks without incident and then started to have issues. They would not oscillate and water sprayed out from various parts when i would try and use them. I should have returned them at that point but I did not and went out and bought other puck type to get my watering chores in the garden and lawn done. It is my fault i did not return them but please do yourself a favour and buy another kind. I don't like complaining but these sprinklers are extremely poor and even if free don't get them.

So I spent a lot trying to get something cheaper and worked well - because wouldn't you think you could find one that works - well no. This one works great - way more durable, settings actually work, works at a reduced flow rate (I have a small area and so as not to water my neighbours while they are on their deck I need to keep the flow down. Most of the trial sprinklers would not cycle back and forth at those low flows)Buy this one. I bought all the others and ended up with this one.

I bought it mostly because of the colour. But when I set it up in our backyard and attached it to the hose, it would only spray towards the ground. No amount of adjustment with the settings changed the direction. When I manually moved the metal spray arm, it fell off, so I had to duct tape it to stay on. I had to keep it cause I just seeded our lawn and we were in a drought and couldn't wait - it works, but I wouldn't recommend this product.
