Device failed during a storm after 11 years of sporadic use
Had this model installed in 2013 on a new build house. It worked fine for 11 years, and failed during an intense thunderstorm. Maybe an electrical surge. Not sure. The interesting part is that both the 24v transformer/adaptor failed and the controller itself failed as well. I had to junk both pieces.Installation and setup is easy and takes about 10 minutes with basic tools. That is, if you have your wiring and everything else in place already.

Inexpensive Replacement for Hunter Pro-C
My old Hunter Pro-C had several modules that failed after 12 years. It would have cost as much to replace the modules as to purchase a new Hunter XC800i 8-Core. The feature set of the XC800i is virtually identical, and the 8-Core has enough stations for me since I only had 7 stations in use on my old Pro-C. Installation was straight forward using the wires from my old unit. Programming it was a breeze since I just reset up the old program on the new one unit. Since the controls are basically identical, I was finished everything in under an hour, including removing the old unit. The only caveat is that the XC800i is smaller, so the mounting screws aren't in the same location as the old unit. As a result, I have a mounting hole in my dry wall from the old unit that is not covered by the new unit. The XC800i seems to work exactly like my old Pro-C after being in service for about a month.

Easy to Install
I needed to replace an old Hunter XC-6 controller that finally went kaput after 24 years of use. I’m fairly certain that it would have kept on working had I not suffered a series of intermittent power outages during the recent hurricane. I’m not much of a DIYer but installation of my new Hunter XC controller was straight forward. The documentation that’s included with it is sufficient. The installation was straightforward, particularly since my project was swapping an old controller for a new one and the new controller has the same look, feel and programming commands as the old one.

Lawn sprinkler controller
Hunter is a very good brand. It’s a perfect fit for my yard. Good price. The only negative comment would be that it randomly waters each zone twice in one day (which it is NOT set up to do. I would recommend with a bit of caution.
