These decorative boxes were crafted and hand painted in Northern Thailand by skilled artists. We had them custom-made by a small, family owned business. The colorful rice baskets were made to resemble the traditional food storage containers that were carried into the rice fields by the farmers as they tended to their crop. Usually, they contained sticky rice and some other things to eat. Vintage traditional rice basket with lid. The container is made out of bamboo.
