Spy High is a book about a group of students that attend a secret spy school. They are daring and cunning but they do not get together well enough to pass their exam. The story focuses on one of the five teams that go to Spy High, the Bond Team. The team was selected the best spy in the world and Bond Teams teacher Senior Tutor Elmore Grant but they call him senior tutor. When hopes are high for Bond Team, its soon realized that no one on the team gets along. To pass Deveraux Academy you must pass a virtual reality test that simulates a real mission. They have three chances to pass the test, but after 2 failures on the test Senior Tutor is beginning to second guess his choice with Bond Team.Although Spy High may look like a very expensive, exclusive high school from the outside but if you were to attend the school you would know that all the things are holograms to hide the true use of the school. Senior Tutor soon finds that he needs to find a way to make Bond Team bond and get closer personal connections. Soon after these thoughts cross Senior Tutors mind he is called to the founders office. The founder has already made a decision on what they are going to be doing with Bond Team. He believes that the team relies on the fact that if they are killed in the simulator they are still alive in life, he wants to put the team in a real mission with real bad guys and real danger. Senior Tutor thinks this is a stupid idea but after some thinking he realizes it's the only option or Bond Team will never pass the simulation.Bond Team hears from Senior Tutor that they are going on a camping trip so that they can grow personal connections with the others. They run into a group of hunters who tell them that a few of their men went where the teens were planning to go and never returned and that they should not go, but being spies they thought they could handle their own. They soon find out that not heading the warning of the hunters was a very stupid idea. When an argument erupts the team decides that it would be best for them to split into groups and they would all meet back at the camp later. When the teens suddenly find themselves being ambushed by half men half reptile creatures, they have nothing to defend themselves other than their fists as the weapons are at the camp. Once the teams fend off the mutants they rendezvous at the campsite and find it completely destroyed and nothing salvageable. Seeing all that they had lost they decide to walk back to the hunters camp for help but upon their arrival they find everyone dead.Bond Team stumbles onto a house in the woods, the owner says that he has never seen anything in the woods like what they have described. He offers them something to drink but shortly after they feel funny, the hot chocolate was poisoned! When they regain consciousness they find themselves in a lair but not everyone is there they have been broken up. The evil scientist that had been creating these monsters name was Dr. Frankenstein his goal was to create the perfect human using genes in reptiles by increasing strength and hard skin to make great soldiers. When Dr. Frankenstein leaves Cally manages to get out of her ropes and take down the 2 mutants watching over them she untied the 3 other Bond Team members but they still had to find the other 2! When finding them they find that they are in the process of being turned into mutants! The team escapes in the nick of time and when getting back to Spy High its time for their final chance at the test. They passed the test with flying colors and Senior Tutor is very pleased and now they can come back next semester. In conclusion the book was a great read and even though it's for people younger than me it was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I was done reading it I want to read the next one but all in all I'd give it a 7.5 rating.Im Kade Thompson I go to Voyager Academy I'm 16 years old I ride motorcycles on the road and on dirt. I play baseball and wrestle for my high school and enjoy working on trucks and cars.

If you're trying to get your child into reading, START HERE!
I first discovered this series in elementary school, as an 8 year old girl, while flipping through the book fair flyer, and when I saw it I knew I immediately needed to read it. This book had me up at night reading, and begging my mom to take me to the bookstore to get me the next book. I was totally hooked, and after I read this my real joy for reading developed. It doesn't take too long to really get going, and the storyline is entertaining but not too difficult to follow.I credit A.J. Brown with opening me up to the wonder of the library, and I definitely think its a great pick for kids/teens/even adults! I've re-read and never come up with any other opinion.Read this book, buy it for your kids!

How can anyone like this book honestly
How can anyone like this book honestly? Perhaps a while ago the options for kids and young adults were few....but my God there's a wide range now...of better books.

James Bond Watch Out
I stumbled into this book looking for something for my classroom library. Several of my better readers had just finished up the Alex Rider series leaving them to want more. This series fit the bill. This group of boys were totally sucked into this series from the first chapter! I started reading them as well and complete understood why my boys continued to ask me to buy the next book in the series. This book (as well as the entire series) is a must have for an upper elementary or middle school classroom library.

Who Doesn't Want to Be a Spy in High School?
When Jake, Ben, Lori, Eddie, Cally, and Jennifer are invited to the illustrious and exclusive Devereaux Academy, they don't know what they're signing up for. The Academy is a cover for a covert training facility, affectionately known as Spy High where young "students" are trained to be spies. The six are assigned to the Bond Team, but where the other teams seems to be coming together, Bond Team has some difficulty working as a team. Ben is too concerned with being a hero, Lori can't seem to say no to Ben (yeah, she's the lamest of the characters), Jennifer is too ready to jump into a fight, Jake is resentful of Ben's snobbery, Cally has no faith in herself, and Eddie can't take things seriously. In an attempt to get them to click, they are sent on a camping trip. The camping trip turns out to be anything but singing songs around a fire and they must use all their wits and training to survive.Surprisingly, despite there being so many characters to follow, we get a pretty good idea of who everyone is. Not everyone gets quite the same amount of attention (Lori, Eddie, and Jennifer get the least while Ben, Jake, and Cally get the most), but even so we get to know each of them. It is most unfortunate that we don't get to know more about Jennifer, since she apparently has some sort of secret and seems interesting. Anyone hopping for a fight must have some interesting backstory, right?Book one did a good job of setting up a larger story (specifically an organization called CHAOS) while establishing the different kids. I would have liked Lori to be more complex (right now she seems to just be the pretty face she doesn't want to be with no specific skills to contribute to the team) and I am surprised that before they voted for team leader they weren't given a speech about how scores aren't everything when it comes to leadership.I would also like to know how things work when they graduate. For example, do you work with the teams you train with? Does the bigger spy organization have a name? How does Devereaux get his intel? Some or all of these things may be revealed later in the series, so it is hard to complain about it just yet.
