Don't be fooled like I was. This is a basic selfie stick with no remote shutter option. You have to select a timed shutter function of your cell phone, then point the camera and hope that it is where you want it when the shutter opens. I would send it back but it was too late by the time I got around to trying it. Total waste of money.Another hint: if you have an Andriod phone, you will need a selfie stick with Bluetooth. The selfie sticks with a hardwired button only work on Iphones. That was another waste of my time but I figured it out in time to return it so I got my money back. My next selfie stick will be one with Bluetooth.

This is a really cheaply made pole if your intent is to use it for an action camera. The only way it works is when closed or fully extended as a partial extension does have the friction to hold position. If you fully extend there is a noticeable side to side wobble making it useless for filming video. It would work okay for still pictures, though. The head mechanism is over sized plastic that will not last for long. If you are a very casual user this may do the trick, if you want to ski, snowboard, or use it for any other active sport, keep looking.
