Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442-1/4-20A 1/4-20 Mandrel and Nose Piece for 1442

Works for what we needed it for! No complaints at all!

Not the longer version needed for Plus Nuts.

I own an Astro Pneumatic 1450 plus nut setter and needed a shorter shank to set a few rivnuts. This worked great for me!

I was thinking these fit a different tool where they have a hole in the side of bit and a pin locks it into tool....

I ordered this replacement 1/4-20 for my Astro Pneumatic 1442 but when it arrived I found it was completely incompatible with the 1442. Don't believe me - see the photos attached of my 1442 mandrel with the worn threads and the new part as arrived from Amazon.I emailed Astro Pneumatic complaining and seeking a compatible mandrel, but I have not had a response from them. I bought my 1442 from Astro Pneumatic via Amazon a few years ago, and as you see it is labelled a 1442, but the part shipped simply does not fit.I have previously posted very favourable reviews of Astro Pneumatic's riveters, but I am very disappointed that this mandrel, which they characterize as a "consumable", cannot be simply replaced without these unnecessary problems.If Astro Pneumatic responds to me, I will update this review, but be aware that if your 1442 looks anything like mine, this mandrel will not fit.10 Oct 2020This is an update to my review above. Astro Pneumatic responded promptly to my email and asked me first whether my 1442 was red or blue. When I told them it was "red" (see my photos) they told me that my "red" 1442 was made 4-5 years ago and they no longer support it with replacement mandrels. The mandrel being sold on Amazon is for the newer "blue" 1442 model. I expressed disappointment that (i) a part Astro Pneumatic describes as a consumable is no longer stocked/supported 4-5 years later, and that as a result the "red" 1442 which I have can now only be tossed, and (ii) that they fail to make clear in the Amazon listing for these mandrels that they fit only the "blue" 1442 models and not the older "red" 1442's. Astro Pneumatic offered to sell me a new "blue" 1442 for $65, but they are available on Amazon for $72, so it's hardly worth the hassle of giving them credit card and mailing details for a seven dollar savings.I'm very disappointed in Astro Pneumatic. Their products are good - I have five of their 1423 riveters (four red and one blue) and these are head and shoulders above the Arrow riveters, but no doubt there is the same compatibility issue between the red and blue models in the 1423's.Anyway, be warned - the Astro Pneumatic mandels being sold on Amazon fit only the "blue" 1442 rivet nut tools and not the older red 1442's.Paul

Replaced my broken part in my kit. Works as it should. No complaints.

Good replacement for the money

This was to replace a broken 10/24 attachment for aa AOBEN 14" Rivet Nut Tool. That is what is pictured. note the hole through the tool. It is essential. Not what was delivered. No hole. hence, will not work with an AOBEN 14" Rivet Nut Tool. Worthless.

Bought the AP 1450 which does long rive nuts thinking it would work for the short (1442) but would not so bought two of the shorter mandrels and they worked fine in the 1450.

Exactly as described, havent used it yet.
