Decent mic for the price
I’m using this mic on an outdoor adventurer video rig with DJI osmo pocket and every once in a while get an intermittent very scratchy/clicking type interference. Usually on startup. Aside from that, audio quality is substantially better than the osmo pocket. So far best results have been in +10db mode and with wind using dead cat the plus db mode works well

Works very well outdoors, with one caveat
I have three of these. Two are on Vixia HF G50s and one on a Vixia HF-R700. When I first used them, the sound was overpowering and unbearable. However, using the camcorder's internal volume settings, I was able to find the sweet spot. This microphone preforms very well. I don't need/use the gain or low-cut bypass. The wind muff works great and I don't get any undesirable wind noise. The one issue I wish wasn't a factor is the wind muff itself. The thing is more like a lion than a cat. It overhangs and is visible when in use. Solution for me was to (carefully) remove the shock and replace it upside-down, so that the mic is actually above the shock. It is glued on, so you have to pry around carefully, but it is easily doable. I have not noticed any ill effects doing it this way, and it no longer interferes with the shot.Definitely recommended.

Needy in an emergency for a family wedding to record the vows. Without prior experience with this equipment and outcome was very satisfactory for reasonable cost

Forget The RODE VIDEO MIC GO - GET THIS INSTEAD!
I have a YouTube channel "TechSavvyBuyer" and having a high quality shotgun mic is a necessity. My go to mic has always been the Rode VideoMic Go, a $80 microphone that gets the job done well but needs a fair amount of post-processing to get the audio "just right". This microphone is a game changer! It is not only cheaper but it also has a few additional features that I think are totally worth it. Lets take a look at the pro's and cons.PROs:Excellent Build QualityIncludes a travel case and wind muff filter (very nice touch and excellent quality - doesnt feel or look cheap at all)Price is perfectAdjustable db level via 2xAAA batteriesMic Sensitivity is perfect for vlogging and YouTubingLow Cut Filter is great!SOUND QUALITY IS FANTASTIC!Cons:3.5mm cable is built-in. If this gets destroyed or frayed this mic is pretty much uselessBatteries required for the mic to work, if you're out of batteries you're out of luckNeed to turn the Mic "on" for it to work (i forgot to do this once and shot a whole video without audio - needless to say it was a PIA!)Conclusion: This mic is a solid and totally worth 4 stars. I docked one star because the 3.5mm cable cannot be changed for another and the fact that the mic doesnt work without batteries, compared to the Rode Video Mic Go which doesnt need batteries. The main thing that matters however is the sound quality, which is fantastic! I dont have to do as much post processing with this mic and it has made itself into a solid addition among my camera gear. If you need a decent mic and are on a budget, you will be happy with your purchase of this.

Great shotgun mic with universal shoe Mount and wind muff
I'm going to start my review with a qualifier saying that I really enjoy amateur video work but this is the first shotgun microphone I've used.We were at a family reunions and I was excited to use it during a meeting where my grandfather and others shared memories of their parents. I thought it would be great for capturing their noise but not the noise of all the kids. There are two things I realize I did wrong. One, I was too far away from the person speaking. Two, I was not aimed directly at them. That being said, the sound quality is great I just wish there was more of my grandfather's voice and less of the kids on the swings. My situation was also not ideal because there was a building and mountain cliffs helping to echo the sound of the kids playing. Now let me get onto my review. I love the red spring, whatever you call it, that helps avoid movement noise. So much smarter than the little rubber bands that snap and never work that well in the first place!I love the wind Moss. That did get tried in very windy conditions and even though I picked up some kids playing I didn't get any wind noise!I love the universal shoe mount that you can also put on a tripod.the sound quality is great even though the cancellation didn't work as well as I hoped, but I now realize the circumstances weren't perfect. The only other downside is that it uses a three-prong TRS 3.5 mm audio jack, and the camera I use most often, the Sony a6000, doesn't have a microphone in. I would use it with my smartphone but I need a converter to trrs 4 prong. However, most DSLR cameras that have a microphone in Jack will fit this trrs 3-prong audio jack.Great product! I'm really impressed.

RADAR APPROVED!
This microphone performed better than I expected. I should not be surprised because I have several Comica products and I like them all. It has a low cut filter function to reduce the background frequencies and a +10db function that increases the sensitivity. For those who don't understand it makes it louder lol. It has a manual on-off switch so you have to remember to turn the mic on or you won't get any audio. The mic is powered by two triple-A batteries that are not included. It does come with a dead cat wind muff. Overall the mic sounds good to me. I have two Rode mics, a Movo and a Comica lav system as well as other mics. The Comica CVM-V30 PRO is a good mic and is not designed to compete with the Rode so it is not to compare. With that said it is a quality mic for the price and is great if you don't have the budget to spend hundreds of dollars. If I had any complaints it would be that it takes batteries and triple-A at that but since I already had rechargeable ones on hand it is not a problem. I would also prefer that the wire jack be detachable like the rode mic mini or the Movo but those are not big deals for me. I recommend checking this out if you want to capture good audio for an affordable price.

Hard to find better value for money - Could do with some minor refinements
The Comica CVM-V30 Pro adds a welcome low-cost addition to the line up of lightweight shotgun mics designed for use by vloggers. The likes of RØDE and Sennheiser fill a big chunk of this space, but Comica has a few offerings too.IN THE BOXThe mic is well presented in a sturdy professional retail box, clearly showing the mic through the packaging. You get the mic (3.5mm cable is attached) and a dead-cat windshield. The mic is permanently attached to its shock mount. Batteries are not included.COSTAt the time of writing, the Comica V30 Pro sells for £60. The package is on a par with the RØDE VideoMicPro which sells for £129 on Amazon. However, if you want a dead-cat with your RØDE, you can add another £22 onto that. That puts the Comica £90 cheaper than the RØDE!AUDIOLow cost is meaningless if the Comica sounds terrible. It doesn’t. It’s not a Sennheiser MKH-416 or RØDE NTG3, but it sits happily alongside the competition. The audio is a little thin (a common problem for low-cost mics including the VideoMic range), but the output is clear, bright and low noise (unlike many camera pre-amps). It is perfectly suitable for vlogging, YouTube content on the move or even news-gathering work. Here are a few of the main audio tech specs. You’re better off listening to a mic though so search online for an audio test.• Frequency Range – 40Hz – 20,000Hz• Dynamic Range – 100dB• Max SPL – 114dB• SNR – 78dBPOWERPower is good news. 2 x AAA batteries last ages (quoted as 200 hours). Thankfully this is not another mic using a 9V battery. I’ve nothing against the old smoke alarm batteries, but they seem outdated, are not as common as AAA and are more expensive.FEATURESFeature-wise, the CVM-V30 Pro is relatively straightforward.i. It has a 3-way power switch with a 10dB boost on the first position. The audio level boost solves the noisy pre-amp issue that unbelievably is still with us in 2019! In short, a louder signal from the Comica allows you to lower your mic level on-camera and reduce the hiss produced onboard.ii. Unfortunately, the power switch is manual. It’s not automatically kicked into life by plug-in power and does not automatically turn off. I find this a problem, and I’ve left it on by mistake every time I’ve used it.iii. The only other switch is the high-pass filter. Having this on the mic is very useful to reduce low-frequency rumble and wind noise. Standard stuff and it works well.iv. The cable is coiled and fits neatly to most setups. It’s thin, so it doesn’t pull things around and gives way for other fittings on your camera. The bad news for me was that it’s fitted to the mic. You can’t remove it or replace it. If it breaks, your mic is useless.v. The box claims ‘super anti-interference’, but out of all the mics I’ve used in recent years, interference has never been a problem. I’m not sure this is anything special.vi. The shock mount looks initially like it doesn’t have enough clearance around it, but it’s quite an intelligent design and works as well as any other shock mount I’ve used (except for gear from Rycote) and is more compact than most others.vii. The hot shoe fitting is plastic and seems a little fragile. It doesn’t need to be tough though, as the weight of the mic is so low (114g) so there’s not much force applied here. I’m glad to see it includes a 1/4″ thread to allow more flexible mounting options.viii. The whole microphone fitting is not mounted very high. With the foam only, this is not a problem, but when using the dead-cat, you might need more clearance to avoid fur in your shot! I was using a traditional style AX53 camcorder when testing, and I had to fit an additional 2-3cm of height to get the clearance I needed. Something like a Sony a7iii would be no problem, but I reckon a Sony a6600 would have issues with compact prime lenses.WIND PERFORMANCEAs mentioned, you also get a dead-cat windshield which fits very tightly and neatly over the permanently installed foam protection leaving only the controls and cable accessible. The dead-cat is an excellent addition as most people buying a mic of this type need this. Having a custom-made design like this is a real bonus. It’s snug and tight and blocks wind from more angles than an ill-fitting third-party product.Windshields are generally not about no wind noise. They aim to achieve an x decibel reduction over your vocal level, so the wind noise is not destructive or distracting. That said, I found the Comica protection to work well enough without the dead-cat. The addition of the extra protection almost cleaned it up entirely. As mentioned above, the only problem is that the hair on the dead-cat is very long and loose and can hang down into your shot. It needs regular stroking :-)SUMMARYIf this mic sat slightly higher off the camera (a problem for my AX53 setup where I would most likely use this mic but not my PXW-Z90 or 5DIII) and had a soft power on/off feature, it would be a perfect mic for recording out and about. I spent £200 on a VideoMicPro+ and, on the whole, this performs equally well. I’m sure there are technically small differences between them which may give RØDE the right to charge over three times the price, but when you consider the environment you’re likely to use this in, it’s perfectly adequate. In short, if portability, weight and decent audio are essential to you and you’re on a budget, the Comica CVM-V30 Pro is certainly worth a look. It could do with some refinements but for the price, you'll struggle to find better.
