it was in better shape than I expected for a used phone
The Verizon 8GB iPhone 4 I received from Amazon was exactly what I expected. The price was very reasonable, and the seller was exemplary in Customer Service and correspondence. Now, this iPhone 4 came with a clean IMEI; however, this CDMA phone is network locked to Verizon, or any other company that can activate and provide service to Verizon phones, such as StraightTalk. When I received the phone, it was in better shape than I expected for a used phone. I had to create an Apple account, and then I had to sync iTunes with my phone. The operating system had to be updated twice before the phone could sync to iTunes. After activating the phone, I tried to download applications from the App Store, only to find out that most of the Apple Apps were only compatible with newer models of the iPhone with newer operating systems and processing capabilities. The iPhone 4 is restricted to older Apple Applications.I contacted StraightTalk to activate my phone. I was told that coverage was available in my area and zip code. I paid a network access fee, and a month's pre-paid phone service with the carrier. I was advised by StraightTalk that my service was active; however, the phone could not make or receive calls, despite the fact that I had been assigned a telephone number. I was on the phone with StraightTalk for many hours trying to reconfigure the phone and troubleshoot the issues. After 3 days of going back and forth with StraightTalk, it was deemed that my phone was simply not getting a strong enough signal to maintain service or even trouble shoot the activation issue. I was asked repeatedly how many bars I had, and even had to move the physical location of the iPhone close to a window in an attempt to troubleshoot the activation. The internal antennae was not strong enough to carry a signal. StraightTalk told me that I would be refunded for all fees, and the phone could be returned to the merchant, as I did not have service with their company. I was in constant contact with the seller, and had absolutely no trouble in returning the product. Upon receipt of my return, the seller informed me that the IMEI/MEID was linked to StraightTalk, and could not be factory reset, which would make the product resellable. 3 more days passed of fighting with StraightTalk to disconnect the MEID/IMEI from their network, so the phone could be reset to the Verizon network. The seller of this product was FANTASTIC in helping me get the issue resolved, and promptly returned my money. This iPhone 4 is good for consumers that don't necessarily care about all the bells and whistles. The applications available are limited due to upgrades in iPhones, and the operating system. The memory is limited, and the internal antennae leave much to be desired. Reception was not even possible at my address, which is well within my choice of carrier's service area. I know, both my mother and my brother have StraightTalk, and do not have any problems with reception. This phone simply could not generate a signal strong enough to configure the device to the network. Beginners and basic users will enjoy this phone at a very affordable cost. I, however, depend on my phone for everything, and plainly put, I just require and desire more operation and functionality from my device.

Bad quality control- refurbished- volume does not work. But, they DID put in the updated iphone 5 software I wanted to avoid.
Description said factory refurbished in excellent condition- but, the factory workers didn't check this one very well because the volume does not work, so, I can only hear the person I'm speaking with on speaker or with headphones- which would be ok if not for the fact that I prefer my conversations be private and I cannot always carry my headphones with me because they get tangled up in my purse.Another thing I find completely unacceptable about this iPhone 4 is that it has been updated with the same tracking software that iPhone 5 and 6 has- which I just returned to replace with the 4 partially for that reason. It seems the factory was more interested in updating the new tracking software to make my location more accessible to my carrier (or perhaps for law enforcement and government- or any mega corporation who wants that info for whatever reason). So, this iPhone 4 is only useful in that it does not emit the high SRA cancer causing radiation levels that the newer iPhone 5 emits, because by updating the new software, they changed the entire feel and desirability about the iPhone 4 I was seeking. So to sum it up: the QC at the factory is substandard because the phone does not even function, and the software update they prioritize is apparently more of a concern of the factory technicians than whether the phone works or not. So the phone is really not like an iPhone 4 at all anymore- and is now updated to be more convenient to the spies at apple who either sell (or just GIVE away) every possible bit of info about my personal life to any mega corporation who pays them money for my personal data than it is to me. I understand Apple denies they sell info about their users- but I know for certain they do because I've been targeted with adds for things I've talked about while strictly in the vicinity of my phone only numerous times- too many to be coincidence.Which means by using this faulty phone, I will now be bombarded with more obnoxious advertising I never solicited everywhere I go and be subjected to having my every move under a microscope 24/7 and available to the highest bidder via apple so these creepy strangers (whom I will never have the chance to meet (knowingly anyway)) can share my personal actions with anyone they choose... AND either make money off it or benefit in some other (more sinister) way.

My Best Phone Yet!
iPhone has always been popular among texting fanatics and touchscreeners and it doesn't prove wrong with the iPhone 4 with iOS 7!! It features retina display, a mighty enhancement to the series, and FaceTime- Keep up with family and friends anywhere in the world!
