I have use it with a hardback book and also with a paperback book as well. It works quite well. The book stand is lightweight but sturdy. The page holder is very nice and doesn’t tear my pages as some other book stand page holder has. The small clip light is a plus but I haven’t had to use it as I prefer to use a task lamp. I might use the clip light for some thing else and it is nice to know that it is rechargeable too.

Ordered this particular stand because of the detachable light fixture. Application is for sheet music - extremely helpful in dimly-lit situations. Light has 3 different brightness settings...very useful and satisfying! Only unit I'm aware of that includes this specific feature. Much cheaper than buying a stand and a light kit separately! Stand is a bit smaller than anticipated, but certainly not a deal breaker. Highly recommend!!

We have a tandem bike that we use on inclement days and in the winter months and this is the best thing for our books. We were able to set up a table and this stand is sitting on the table at eye level. The light is a definite plus. This stand holds paperback, hard back, and even a tablet for reading while you peddle.

Had my doubts on this item before ordering. Does what it's supposed to do when reading. Has different positions you can adjust your books at for ease of reading. The light is great to have with the different brightness adjustments as needed for reading, plus, you can remove it and use it for something else when not needed for reading, like, looking for dropped items, dark places.

My main issue is that the two clear plastic things that are keeping the pages from flipping get in the way of the texts of the book.

Product came in a damaged case, however the book stand was in good condition. The light on the other hand, came scratched and what seems to be in a worn condition despite being inside the case. All the equipment works fine, mind you. I am annoyed though, as when I buy something new I assume I will be receiving it in pristine condition. Would have given it a 5 if it didn't come with these issues.*Update* 06/12/2019I originally gave this 3 stars because the case and the light came damaged. Customer service sent me one free of charge and contacted me within the week. Five stars for awesome customer service!

Great for any book lover. I can read in bed with this little light without disturbing my spouse and the brightness has 3 settings. I can carry it to walk (I get steps in by walking and reading) around and read using one hand without my hand cramping. The angle is easily adjustable. Great investment for anyone that needs a third hand to hold the book and free up their hands. It also keeps your hands from cramping holding a book with one hand. You can hold onto the holder and let the book holder hold the book.
