A Definition of the Circle of Life
I was inspired to buy this dvd because my wife and I saw the show on Broadway. This is a wonderful film about the birth of a lion cub (Matthew Broderick), who is betrayed by his Uncle Scar (Jeremy Irons) and leaves his home because he feels responsible for the death of his father ( James Earl Jones). This cast alone speaks for itself about how brilliant this film is. Along the way, our cub grows into young adulthood with the help of two of his friends he meets along his way. These guys are here strictly for comedy relief. While his mother and his friend Nala, a young female lion he played with before the tragedy, finds him and implores him to return to the pride as they are starving thanks to Scar. (Listen for Whoopi Goldberg as one of the bad guy hyenas.)This is a wonderful film for nine to nineteen year olds and beyond. I'm the last guy who knows anything Shakesperian, but I can tell you this is not for the little ones as there are some frightening moments. The film has some catchy songs and an excellent cast and plot. However, I would recommend to anyone who has enjoyed this film to see the Broadway production. Both are magical and magnificent. For children and adults it is The Circle of Life.

I love it!
This is a great addition to the classic Disney DVD collection! And a showstopping song "Morning Report" was the best addition yet!

It was all great! But there is a problem with the Personality Profile Quiz in the Bonus Features.
I thought that having this version of The Lion King was great. I loved the new song that they updated into it, called "The Morning Report." A lot of the Bonus stuff was great, too. I enjoy exploring a lot of it. Except that, even though I checked it out in excited curiosity, too, I didn't like a lot of how the Personality Profile went. I love Personality Profiles, by the way. I am a fan of them. I think they're fun! It's fun to put people in a box as best as you can, but this Personality Profile was way off. Even with how Zazu describes you at the end, if you are most like a character that he has pasted as stars in the sky. And the Personality Profile doesn't have near enough Personality questions in it, either, to get you very accurately. Having lots and lots of questions in one game instead of just a few is the only way that you can come up with a very accurate assessment. That is what I know. The more questions are asked about what you are, that you try your best to answer, then the better and more accurately that this game that you play can put you in a box. It should also ask you and have you check off with your remote control with what you most, 2nd most, third most, etc., balanced between, and least are. And it should at least have about 100 Personality questions, to be so extremely accurate. And Zazu should have a lot more says for what you are, at the end, where he can even say a lot more what whatever is all that you checked off means that you all together correctly are. He even exaggerates how bad you are, on the one where you are most like Scar. Just because somebody tends to have a lot of the same problems that he does, doesn't mean that they are near as bad as him. Scar was like the devil! He was a Hitler in a lion's body. Besides, many people out in the World in many different ways tend to be bossy, unfeeling, impatient, intolerant, you name it, but it doesn't mean that most of them are near as bad as Scar. He was the most extreme version of it. So, I find a huge complaint about how bad that Zazu described that I was, when I averaged up at times on it to being most like Scar. I most definitely am not near as evil as Scar. I'm even a Christian, for Heaven's sake! But once I pick a lot of the Choleric type answers in the Personality questions that he asks me, Zazu (who narrates it) first calls me a bunch of names, and says that "I have an obsessive desire to rule the World, and that I didn't care what it would take to get there." Then he tells me that I am a huge troublemaker. Even to the law. Then he says that I deserve to be locked up, then says that I am most like Scar. It was not very nice of him. I averaged out to being most like Nala a few times, too, and a few times being most like Timon. But the way he described me then, too, was mostly definitely not me, and also some of it was even an exaggeration of how my answers mean that I am like. So, even how Zazu describes you at the end of the test is not very accurate, no matter who he says that you are most like. And I find that as a big complaint! And not only the questions it does ask, it should also ask what you from most to least are in the whole list of Personality Types that even come out of the four basic ones, called "Melancholy, Choleric, Phlegmatic, and Sanguine." And if it did do it that way, then it should have two seperate levels in the same game, which is where one is all your Personality Strengths, and the other one is all of your Personality Weaknesses. Then Zazu can be able to tell you at the end who you are most like in the Strengths, and who you are most like in the Weaknesses. This Personality Profile needs a whole lot of improvements. So, I wish that whoever put out this special addition would do it in the way that I wish that they would. If they did, then it would be so much more awesome and exciting. And I wish that every movie released out there would have a huge Personality Test on it, in the way here that I said that I wanted them to be like, to even tell me who in the movie that I am most like in the Strengths, and who I am most like in the Weaknesses. Also, on this, I find it a complaint, too, that the Personality Test couldn't be quiet. I didn't like it very much that there was a repeatitive stupid jungle music on all of it, and that Zazu had to name out all of the questions on the page, when anybody who reads it can read.

Disney Animated Classic #32: One of Disney's best films earns a marvelous release!!
The Lion King began as a B project at Disney Animation Studios where everywhere wanted to work at the next "hit" Pocahontas. Who would have known that it will become the highest grossing tradional animated film of all time? Who would have known it would win two oscars and three golden globes? Even more important, who would have known than this supposedly secondary project will become one of Disney's most treasured films and the epitome of the Disney Renaissance? Well that's because The Lion King is not your usual regular animated film. It's one of the best animated films ever made with a complex and great story, unforgettable characters, a superb score and great music that elevates it and proudly stands with the best films ever made.I got to know the movie in my chiildhood when I was 4 years old and since then, The Lion King has been one of my favorite films. From its glourious beginning (which by the way I think is the best opening ever) to its final battle and resolution, the movie provides top-notch entertainment to everyone. The characters are great and stays with you and the film showcases one of the best villains that had graced the screen. Hans Zimmer score aided by Lebo M., is amazing, it just envelops you in the film's atmosphere and never let you go until the magnificent finale. Finally, this classic has made its long awaited Blu-ray debut in Disney's premium Diamond Line and the results are spectacular!!Video & AudioWOW!! The Lion King looks absolutely breathtaking on HD. The transfer is immaculate with vivid colors, strong detail and amazing contrast. You will be amazed by how clear is the image and you'll discover new things that you have never seen. The 7.1 DTS-HD MA is as strong and superb as its video counterpart. The sound is bombastic and really strong. Dialogue is clear and wait 'till you see the opening scene and you will be completely in awe. An amazing audio presentation.Bonus FeaturesWhile this set is not as loaded as previous Diamond films like Beauty or Sniw White, there are still plenty of interesting stuff to watch."Disney Second Screen" allows you to sync the film with your ipad or laptop in order to see galleries, games, storyboards and more. While this is nice is does not work as good as it sounds. You also have an audiocommentary with producer Don Hahn and directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff which is interesting to watch."Pride of The Lion King", which is the best bonus in this set, is a retrospective documentary about the production of the film. Many of the people involved share their thoughts of what the film meant to them and also how thd Broadway musical came to be. A must see!!"The Lion King: A memoir- Don Hahn" Is a retrospective look by the producer whonlooks back at him in 1994 and how The Lion King came to be. Another must-see!!"Deleted and alternate scenes" feature five deleted scenes introduced by the directors."The Morning Report" is a fully animated scene that was inserted in the film in the Platinum DVD but it now appears on its own. I think that is good because I did not like it at all."Bloopers & Outtakes" is a newly-created setof bloopers featuring the characters evocating the Pixar films. While this are funny, they are not as funny as the Pixar ones."Interactive Art Gallery" is a great compilation of character design images, storyboards, development, etc."Sing along mode" is the usual karaoke-like feature where you can sing the film songs."Disney's Virtual Vault" is the highly impractical online feature that houses all the material from the Platinum DVD. At least they included the material. This set is the two disc BD/DVD combo which I think is the ideal release without paying for a gimmicky format and a pointless conversion.A DVD copy is also included.Closing ThoughtsThe Lion King is a masterpiece and one of the best animated films ever made. Dealing with themes like death, loss, guilt, responsibility, love, family and more, this film stands tall as one of Disney's best films. This BD set is a perfect way to enjoy it with spectacular picture & sound and plenty of great bonus features that makes it one the best BD sets and is Very Highly Recommended!!
