Reliable seller, good quality Spanish edition of "Nada"
I love this book. The first time I read it I was studying abroad in Spain. I have read it since, but in English. I was so pleased to have found a Spanish edition here on Amazon. The price was very reasonable. The book shows very minimal wear. I'll enjoy it for years to come. I plan to share it with my Spanish students next semester. I highly recommemd this book and this seller! Easy 5 stars!

A remarkable read
“There are some born to live, some to work, others to observe life. My life was insignificant and I was allotted to be a spectator.”Eighteen year old Andrea moved in with her relatives in Barcelona to attend university. It was after the Spanish Civil war and times were tough. The city was dreary, broken and poor. It was nothing.Glória and Juan fought like cats and dogs while their son was sick. They never had enough money for medicine. Aunt Angústias packed it in to live in a convent and the grandmother needed attention. Román played the artist card flirting with any woman who came along. They were not role models for Andrea. They were nothing.Andrea met new friends. She watched her friends Ena and Jaime fall into a relationship. She fell in with Pons and his artist friends in Barceloneta. She walked the streets and observed the city. She was more than nothing.Enter Román into the equation. He hit on his sister-in-law, he hit on the best friend, and even flirted with Andrea. He was bad news.Carmen Laforet published this classic of Spanish literature in 1945, when she was in her twenties. Nada is often a bleak book. Laforet paints an honest image of the times. The challenge is for Andrea to rise above her family and circumstances. To be more than nothing.

A Tale to Remember
The book was secondhand but, I read the book years ago and it struck me as being one of the best stories written. But, I read Spanish and translations sometimes will not do it justice. It is now permanently on my bookshelf. Just right for anyone learning Spanish but, keep a dictionary handy!
