Degas, Painter of Ballerinas: A Picture Book

The images in this book are so pretty that even my oldest child (a 9-year-old aspiring engineer who hates art) commented on how impressive the paintings are. Lol My 7-year-old daughter, who loves art and ballet, also liked being able to read some details about the life of Degas. She enjoyed seeing the progression of his work from a young artist to his later years when his eyesight began to fail.

Got this for my daughter because Degas is her favorite artist. She loves it. It is beautiful.

This book is really beautiful. I worked in printing for 30 years and know quality when I see it. Looks great on my bookshelf !

Degas: Painter of Ballerinas allows readers to connect with art and artist. Susan Goldman Rubin presents large images of Degas's work on each page, accompanied by a quote from or about the artist, or an interesting piece of information about his life and work. If you read cover to cover, you have a narrative of Degas's history, but you could also flip through to look at the art, reading a bit here and there – each page could stand alone. I particularly like this book from The Metropolitan Museum of Art because it includes so many primary sources and chunks information in ways that even quite young children can appreciate.

Beautifully presented book by MoMA. Lovely pink satin binding on cover to match font. Degas painted many subjects like horse racing but is most known for his Paris Opera ballet paintings because he admired how much work and dedication the dancers put into dance like he applied to his art.

Kinderbuch, schöne Abbildungen, die Texte sind aber sehr sehr einfach geschrieben. Irgendwie nicht für sehr kleine Kinder geeignet und für halbwegs normal intelligente Kinder ab Schulalter fast schon zu einfach geschrieben.
