Insanely useful and entertaining guide to babysitting
"Don't Sit on the Baby" is written with young teens in mind, who are hungry for a lively book to help them figure out the complex world of caring for other people's children, and getting paid to do it. As a book of tips it covers a broad scope of childcare issues-- enlightening young readers about everything from feeding and bathing kids to understanding play through the ages, and navigating the business end of the babysitting gig. Smart advice is sprinkled with healthy doses of whimsy, and first-hand "tales from the crib"--teen babysitters' memories of some of their worst moments. Among her many notions, Halley reminds young sitters to always "wear a smile for the parents, even if you spent an hour scraping macaroni from the ceiling." The voice is obviously a teen's. The audience is obviously for teens. But I happened to find that Halley Bondy's writing is so fresh and funny, her observations about the quirky antics of children so sharp, that it goes beyond being a highly useful tip book. It makes for breezy reading for adults as well. Any parent who is in the market to hire a teen babysitter would do well to read the book, and provide a copy to their own youthful caregiver. Who knows, they might learn a thing or two themselves about "cracking the newborn language code," or changing the three-foot-tall stylista charmer girl into her shin guards, and fast. I wish I had this book when I was a clueless tween babysitter, who not only knew zip about kids, but also had no idea how land a job, or negotiate a fee. Might have made me a better parent.

first time babysitter study guide
This is a must need for any first-time babysitter. Or maybe even good when you are trying to pass a Red Cross babysitting class (refresher course ONLY)

Great gift for tween/teen.
This book was purchased for my 10 year old daughter who is prepping herself to babysit. It contained a nice amount of information and had her giggling quite a bit!

My cousin liked it
I'm a 28 yr old male who had to get something for his 15 yr old cousin. I asked my Aunt what to get her. She said a book would be good. Then my cousin started bragging about all the money she was making from babysitting, it was mostly cute.So I got her this book because it looked funny. Turns out my cousin thought it was funny too and she said there was stuff in there she hadn't thought of before. Guess I done good.
