The boy and I are super exited to discover many new things and learn more about botanical magic. My husband and I have a working knowledge of herbs and essential oils but I am not as confidant in the craft as he. I'm almost done with the book and realize that I know more than I give myself credit for. Amy's writing style is how she talks and while reading the book I heard her narration in my head. Just for that the book is utterly fantastic and I can't get enough.Section six- oils from a to z is such an easy reference from the novice to the expert. I Love the layout and I want to break out the highlighters and colored pens to add my notes and helpful hints for future reference.I cannot sing enough praises. Thank you for this and thank you for existing, Amy.

Do yourself a favor: pick up this book. If you are looking for an amazing herbal grimoire filled with lore, medicinal uses, and recipes for oils/incense/cooking, this is your one-stop shopping. The sheer VOLUME of information looks overwhelming (spoilers: it is) but Ms. Blackthorn's turn of phrase will put you at ease quickly. The index is wonderfully cross-referenced and I've already started to compile my shopping list of oils to make several of the blends. Each herb/blend includes the Latin name for the specific type of the specific herb/flower, so you know exactly what you should have on hand. All in all, a wonderful addition to any herbal witch's bookshelf! One pass through is not enough. This is definitely a book I will continue to return to over and over again.

I pre- ordered this gem, & I'm so glad I did! It's the most thorough, well- written, yet easy to understand guide to essential oils, their origins, uses, determining quality, safe handling, etc. that I've ever read. Even though it was written with the *pagan* community in mind, ANYBODY & EVERYBODY can benefit from the knowledge & enjoy using the recipes & blends Amy has included in this book. I cannot recommend it enough! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book is way more than I thought it would be. I thought it would be like a dictionary - you look up the essential oil and get the definition. It is that but it's also got a few introductory chapters about oils and products and rituals to give you a nice and concise overview of a lot of things you might need to know as a novice. I also like the way you can reference different oils in alpha order but also look up your purpose and find the oil you need.The only thing I would recommend adding in the second edition is which chakras the oils relate to, I know it's not really wicca (so I can't dock a star for that) but it can't hurt to add and would have saved me some cross referencing. I now have an annotated copy ;)

This book is the definitive encyclopedia of how to use and blend essential oils for mental health, clarity and to alleviate mental stress. I have this book highlighted and bookmarked, there's so much crucial information and the author is an incredible guide. It flows almost like a cookbook as research is provided on each herb, oil; how it was used in the past and the benefits for today's user. It'll always be my go-to book on the topic and sits on a shelf close by in my bedroom.

When i saw that this book was available I could not wait to get my hands on it. I have not been disappointed. A wealth of information in an easy to access and read format. The title page for each herb gives a quick overview of what you can expect which is then expanded upon as you read through each chapter and recipe.

I heard of this book from the Desperate House Witches podcast, their interview with Amy. Excellent content about herbs, their magical association with the astrological sigils. It gives the practitioner: magical, beginner or medicinal, a wide palate to create their own potions. I enjoyed this book-beautifully illustrated and written. If any readers haven't heard the Desperate House Witches interview with Amy--give it a listen, one of my favorites.S.E.

This is a super handy guide, I have had it for a week and it has greatly enriched my mental health and spiritual practice. I feel reinvigorated towards using essential oils in new ways, and less overwhelmed. The bulk of the book is an herbal on many common herbs and essential oils, very handy. I read this on Kindle which I recommend because of the search capability, she lists by herb not symptom or goal, so the search function is much more helpful guide finding what you need. Blackthorn's writing is never dull and she has an amazing way of making you feel better about what you alreay know and simultaneously teaching you so much without you realizing it. This is my second book I've read of hers after Sacred Smoke, another excellent read, and I will be reading everything she publishes.

Really enjoying this book, a great purchase. Just the right balance of information re: herbal lore, magickal applications, aromatherapy and health uses. I know I will be referencing this book regularly and the recipes for synergy blends are varied and with many applications.

Lovely reference book and I use it a lot, my only, very small, grumble would be that there aren't enough oils described, but that's just me. It explains how to blend oils well and gives good examples, I like that it gives magical correspondences too.

Great book

This book is perfect for a beginner delving deep into the use of plants. I appreciate the attention to safety with the materials, including summary sheets for photoxicity and pregnancy. Gives a lot of great tips on adding working with plants to your practise, and how to start and move forward. If you cannot get the older books because they are out of print , you won't go wrong with this as a resource and reference.

Bueno pero esperaba un poco más. Al menos por la descripción del libro buscaba más contendido, recetas, blends, etc. que al final una enciclopedia con propiedades curativas y mágicas de las plantas y de aceites que puedes encontrar en muchos otros libros.Para agregar a las colección esta bien.
