Actually 4.5 Stars
I really like this book. Ian is well spoken and takes on an emotional subject (at least it can be) with respect and humor. He also gives the reader some excellent insights as to what we humans deal with inside our minds. Something that many people are completely oblivious to. I learned some good skills in improving my self-talk. Thanks Ian!

Wish it was longer
After the first few pages I was thinking I might regret the purchase, but it’s actually a decent book with sound exercises and advice. The self-promotion is a bit much (specifically the end of the book as there’s like 6 pages of it) but gotta get your name out there some how so it’s whatever. The author isn’t a doctor or specialist in mental health, just a regular person, so take the advice with that in mind.

An amazing book
It is easy to think negatively now when shorts /reels/ TikTok make us feel like everyone is so much better. I honestly started reading this book because I became addicted to social media and needed a pushback. Now I am more aware of the thoughts I create when watching shorts, and the thoughts I create when I read this type of book. Books like this one, worth to be read again and again as it helps with the self-development when scrolling on instagram is destroying it. Great book!

Super helpful - just wish it was a bit longer!
I really appreciated the clear examples and evidence behind self talk, both positive and negative, I just wish it was longer and included more ideas about how to implement it. The addendum was a great start!

Good Guide
I spend a lot of time talking to myself and telling Me my own stories. I found this book was a very useful guide on how to make this process positive and helpful for me.If You talk to yourself a lot, you might find this book will help you. It is short and full of good advice.

Just what I needed.
Really got a lot out of this book. Goes on my "will re-read this from time to time" list. My self talk screws me up often -- I have a lot I need to work on. He lays out an excellent plan for improvement. Wish I'd had a book like this years ago. Thank you.

Helpful
I am constantly in my head tearing myself apart. The advice in this book may seem obvious, but your subconscious needs to hear it (I mean, if it was obvious to my subconscious then I wouldn't still be beating myself up over that time I spelled ponies wrong in 1st grade and lost the spelling bee). I loved that the suggestions were small and easy to do. The exercises were great at helping me see patterns I didn't realize I had. Sometimes all it takes is that minute to stop and think to change your frame of mind. If you have a challenging relationship with yourself due to negative self talk, I recommend that you take a look at this book!

Not much for $13
This "book" is 85 pages long. The text of the book itself is double spaced, so less material than you'd think. And 22 of those 85 pages are (single-spaced, small print) advertisements for the authors other "books". So you have 63 double spaced pages - basically the length of a longish article - summarizing other people's ideas about the topic. You'd be better off buying the books of the authors who actually wrote authoritative (full length) books on the topic. This item does prove, though, that someone really can make a good living by self-publishing on Amazon, even if he/she has nothing original to say....

An insightful and brilliant read!
This book is quite short but don’t let that fool you that it’s not packed with incredibly valuable insights and practical activities to put some of the points into practice. I’ve read a few books ok self talk and I’d say this is my favourite and I have gained loads from reading it. I’d highly recommend it if you’re interested in the topic!
