Excellent Book For Those Interested in Tracks
This is an excellent book for learning, and studying animal tracks. The illustrations are the best I have seen, photos are sharp and clear, descriptions are very good. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in animal tracks.

Probably the best you’ll get
I live in Southern California in the eastern part of the state, where we have an orchard and more of a country environment around us. Not in frequently after a rain I will find animal tracks on our black driveway. Although we have seen coyotes, opossums, skunks, and other such mammals, many of their tracks, don’t seem to match those in the book. I think it is because Petersen’s tracks are taken from snow and mud, not from a blacktop or from an animal that has come out from our orchard or surrounds. Rarely do I ever find tracks in the orchard because our land, even in the wettest of rains, produces very little soft mud. Otherwise, I’ve learned a lot about the varieties of foot prints, and I can’t find a better book as yet.

One OF The Best For A Field Guide
I have a small library of tracking and field books, and this is one of the best to take into the bush and also as a great guide to studying the language of the track. It is a must have.As far as tracking books go, Murie set the standard on tracking books. If I could only have two, this would be one of them--this and Paul Rezende's Book: "Tracking And The Art of Seeing." .

Great books
I have enjoyed the Peterson field guides for quite some time now. I don't know if I'd call them the standard, but they are definitely favorites of mine. This, like several others that I own, is an older edition, not much changes in this field. I would have enjoyed some color photographs, but it is still a handy reference and obviously well researched.

Wolf Tracks?
My six year-old grandson loves this book. He was pretty sure that he saw wolf tracks around his school. Now he understands they were probably from a dog.
