Great book for those who really want to learn
The whole series is fantastic. It exposes kids to deeper ways of thinking about problems. The book covers 5 main topics but there are many problem sets that drill these concepts into students. This is obviously for students who would like to be challenged. Some kids may handle it at age 9 and others at age 13. Forget about the grade level and try to use the book when ready.

Problems are with good standard.
It was ok. More than Half of the book is solutions. It should include more problems and concepts

very challenging
Since my son started using Beestar online math (a wonderful website beestar.org, which provides free math program), he often asks questions about math problems. They are more and more challenging to me. This book came in as a BIG BIG help. It has advanced ways of perceiving the math concept, a strong emphasis on comprehension and critical thinking, and experience of adventure in math. It contains all the topics in competitive math, such as cryptarithms, sequences, the sum of consecutive integers, divisibility, primes and miscellaneous practice. It provides a problem solving training ground starting from the earliest years of a child's math development. I love this book because it not only focuses on finding correct answers but also on finding better solution strategies. I often make my son sit and think in a focused manner. Although it's very difficult for a little kid like him, I try to build up a math environment in our home. I initiate a math dialogue, and let my son take time to think up clever solutions. I can see his progress since we used this book. It's a very interesting, challenging and rewarding book. We absolutely love it!
