Awesome replacement Modem!
I bought this Modem to replace the original Modem I got from Oceanic Time Warner & it's the "Exact" same Modem that I replaced it with! Now I don't have to pay the $5 a month Modem fee from Oceanic Time Warner! In fact, Oceanic Time Warner gave me a three month Modem reimbursement (Credit)! I swapped it out, called Oceanic Time Warner, gave them the new MAC address and in 5 minutes I was off & running! I would highly recommend this Modem to replace the original Modem from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) & save the monthly charge for renting their Modem! Keep in mind, the cable companies claim they have a replacement Modem list that they strictly adhere to & it's BS! One more thing, this is a 2.0 Modem and has an average Mbps transfer rate for streaming. If you are streaming many devices at once, you might want to look for a used 3.0 Modem. I bought this Modem used and it cost me 1/4 the price of a new one! Also, when I received the Modem, it looked brand new!

They tripped but I caught them
I ordered this modem to get away from Comcast monthly rental fees for the one I was using. It didn't take long to receive my Order but took a little longer to fix a problem with what was received; the supplier provided the wrong power adapter with the modem. This modem requires a linear type power adapter but was provided a switching type intended for use with a cell phone or a HUB ROUTER. After giving the supplier a lecture and brief lesson on mismatching technologies, I later received an e-mail from them with instructions on returning the power adapter in exchange for the correct part. I was finally able to return Comcast's modem and avoid those pesky monthly rental fees. I don't know if what the supplier did was by accident or by design; there is nothing wrong in trying to save money by kitting shipments with lesser expensive components. If it was by accident, they have my thanks and apologies; if it was by design, I have their's Bottom line, the modem works great, no more monthly rental fees, and issues were amicably resolved. Would I order from them again? Yes I believe I would

Modem not working with Comcast??!!
I ordered this modem hoping to replace the leased modem from Comcast to save a few bucks now that they have increased the lease fee to $5 a month. Got it from State Street deals and it was shipped promptly (shipment fullfiled by Amazon). I made sure that this model (DPC2100) is on Comcast's supported modem list before I ordered. However, after working with Comcast tech support for a long time, we failed to make the modem to respond to head end request for initialization. So this box went back to Amazon. I was hoping to get a replacement when I requested MRA, but they don't provide an option for exchange. I would like to hear other customers' experience on using this modem with Comcast.

Easy to use with Comcast.
I bought this used for used with Comcast/Xfinity. It was for a friend who lives in a different service area than I do so I checked Comcast's list of compatible equipment. I had concerns since their service area seems to have some differences (such as they still have basic cable and my area is all digital, and the modem I use in my area is not listed for that area). This model was listed for both areas and had the full in field testing rating. In both areas all we had to do was plug it in and wait a few minutes. No calls to the cable company, no hassles. Worked great when both connected to a router or directly to the computer. It was smooth sailing. It does take a little longer to cycle when first powered up than some modems I've used, but not as long as others. So all in all I am quite pleased with this one.

Cheap and works with Comcast
Had to do a tiny amount of trouble shooting while hooking it up (just power cycling and restating computer) but after that it works fine with Comcast and will pay itself off in 3 months (compared to renting a modem from them for $7 a month) Keep in mind that this does use DOCSIS 2.0, so don't get it if your connection is faster than 20 mbps. Mine isn't, so it is no problem. I will likely have to replace it sometime in the future, but as I said it pays for itself in three months so it will still save me a lot of money.

Stop paying modem rental fees!
When BH decided to charge us a "modem rental fee" recently, for the modem we have had for 8 years, I decided to look online for an cheaper alternative. This modem was cheap, and easy to set up. Check your local provider for a list of supported brands/models. After I received it, I called BH tech support and we configured this modem in less than 10 minutes. They have to ping it, and load it into their server/database. Speedtest shows constant and high speeds! All in all, a good purchase.

died after two-year usage
Used it for about two years where it didn't have any issue. But it suddenly stopped working during my weeklong travel. Could be due to lighting shock during a thunder storm. Still it quite worths the money.

Bunk Power Charger
The new modem works fine - so far. The package included the modem, an ether net cable, and a BUNK charger! After plugging it in to see the green lights flash alive, all I got was the same dead lights staring back at me. I felt like I was tricked and betrayed! Fortunately I had other random chargers laying around or I'd have to venture into the world of returns...for 20 bucks, ugh.
