How does the hard boiling egg function work?

It comes with the measuring cup for water based on how many eggs you're doing, and if you want hard medium or soft boiled. It hard boils my eggs perfectly every time. Seriously, the best investment ever.

Is this thing made in China? If so, it will be in the dumpster within about 2 years.
