Andrew Jackson would be proud..
Old Hickory was his nickname. "I love my Stilettos," is not what you usually hear a male carpenter profess, unless they are talking about their hammer. Stiletto is the only hammer I will buy. Wood handle is all I will use, so I will continue to use these high quality replacements when I occasionally break one. They are easy to install and hold like the original that the hammer came with. There are a few tricks to replace a handle with success. First is to cut the old handle off just below the head. I use a bandsaw at home or my circular saw in the field. BE CAREFUL. Second I use a drill to drill out the old donut wedges, usually a hole the size of the inside diameters. Then a few smaller holes around them. Next I use another hammer or mallet and a chisel or screwdriver to knock out the remaining bits of wood and the wedges. Now take the new handle and slide it into the hammer head till it is snug. Then hold the handle upright with the head on the bottom. While holding the hammer in midair, use another hammer to hit the handle on it's base (the end opposite the head). This sounds weird, but will actually pull the head up and give a solid fit. Next, cut the excess handle off smooth with the top of the head and pound in the wedges. I usually hold them with a set of pliers to avoid hitting my fingers.

Fits perfect
My husbands handle broke after excessive use and we quickly bought this. It arrived super fast and fit perfectly in his stiletto head.

Great hammer, weak handles.
DO NOT USE YOUR WOODEN HANDLED STILETTO HAMMER TO PULL NAILS! My third handle. Love the hammer, but the design of the handle makes it really narrow at the point where it enters the head of the hammer and you can shear it right off with a good pull. I will be more careful and I will keep using my Stiletto. Someday I might have to look into an all metal hammer, but not today, I'm still too dedicated to the one I have.

You should buy this.
If you need a good quality 18 inch handle that looks cool and comes with everything you need to use it, buy this. I made a hand hoe. HAND HOE!!

Fit my 14oz nicely.
This handle fit my 14oz head well. It installed quickly. The handle works best after soaking in butcher block or olive oil after install.
