Does it come in one piece or is assembly required?

Assembly is extremely difficult! My son said there were about 20 pieces! He's young and very good at assembling! It took him an hour! He's really good at assembly! Disappointed because Little Tykes is know for easy assembly! Disappointed! He did it, and as a 27 month old, his daughter loved it!

Do the front wheels turn, allowing toddlers to make turns. Or are they fixed so they can just go back and forth?

I believe they only go back and forth. It was a gift for my grandson and it is very sturdy. The wheels not turning have not slowed him down.

Would this be a toy for a one year old who can walk?

Yes, My Grandson Loves his. We got it for him when he was about 14 months old, just barely walking. He is now 20 months and loves to put things in it and puch it around all day.

What's the age limit on it?

I bought this last Christmas for my 17 month old grandchild. It was perfect for her to push and she loved putting her "baby" in the seat. It is very sturdy and did not tip over easily like some of the cheaper ones. I would recommend it for any age as long as they are able to toddle.
