Alchemy Live

Alchemy is arguably the best album ever released by Dire Straits, and is a collector's item for music lovers.Kudos to the seller for still selling this album from the 80s in India. The CD case was mercifully not broken, and adequate care was taken by the seller in packing it for shipment.A must have CD-set for those who still value the sound quality & fidelity of Compact Discs over streamed music.

Totally different to what I remember to the original the editted version is abismal cut here & there if it's remastered then you hear ever whistle cheer & some drunk fans shouting "come on mark " etc etc I like to listen to my CDs on headphones so when during a quiet moment you get a loud whistle in your lugs goes through me I can not believe mark knopfler agreed to send this version out to the public he should be sueing the editors for ruining a classic live album . On the other hand the music is good but as a whole I won't be listening to this album on MP3 or headphones ever again

Dire Straits were not as visually spectacular as other bands [like Queen for example] on stage but their musicianship was equally spectacular on record and live. This double CD, along with their single 'Live at the BBC' CD highlight the band at their very best. Sultans Of Swing may be their signature tune, and it was the track that first made me take notice of the band, but I could listen to Once Upon A Time In The West all day long. Brilliant recording of a brilliant band.

If there was 6 stars or more that album will deserve it !!Love Dire Straight and that one is the best ever !! Been listening to it over and over !!Just regret I couldn’t see them in concert at the time!Mark Knopfler has magical fingers on the guitar, to me he is the best guitarist ever !

Alchemy - Dire Straits Live - Two CD Set this album,in my humble opinion is pure magic.I have a good many of their albums but none bar Alchemy have telegraph roadwhich is one of knopflers greatest works.I do have it on vinyl,or did,i just cant find it..( thats telegraph road,not alchemy)Dire Straits are one of a few bands that sound great recorded or live.once upon a time in the west,romeo & juliet,private investigations, solid rock,going home--the theme from local hero are all there and more.Mark knopfler is at his peak here and has been called the'worlds top guitar virtuoso' and if you buy and listen to ALCHEMY-LIVEyou will,i bet, agree.... A Dire Straits live album, in this case the Alchemy concert from the then Hammersmith Odeon, now the Apollo. It's a brilliant piece of music like most of their music. This album precedes the Brothers in Arms album so don't expect Money for nothing, Walk of Life and Brothers in Arms. The best track is probably Sultans of Swing. But any fan of Dire Straits will enjoy this album.
