great Item and quality really works well

Great, I have only tried it once to test it and it works. It’s one of those items it lives in my Ruck sack hopefully never to be used.

I love the ease of filtering water. The bottles are very useful. The bottles are very difficult to dry out effectively once they've had water in them. I've left the tops off and put them on radiators and there's still condensation inside. This concerns me a bit as it means bacterial growth could develop inside them, and I'm not really sure how else you're supposed to dry them out. Luckily, the filter itself fits any plastic bottle with a standard opening, so I'll probably just use old bottles for this instead of the squeeze ones.

Really good, worth buying

Used on a 5 week trekking holiday in Nepal. Easy to use. There was no reduction in flow during the 5 weeks of daily use, and most importantly, I didn't get any stomach problems.

A must have for prepping camping survival

I bought this filter as I was going on a very long trek in the middle of mountains in very hot weather, which would require me to have a filter to be able to get water from streams, and this was the only filter covering for bacteria and viruses, among other things, and my main priority was not getting sick and being able to complete this trek in the time I had available. Within 3 uses it starting cracking at the bottom, and on day 4 the leak was so extreme that I wasn't sure I was filtering the water at all. Thankfully, I wasn't on my own and we had another filter available, not as effective in terms of filtering, but definitely more sturdy. The tears that can be appreciated in the picture are all over the bottom, this is just an example. I tried to repair it with superglue, but there was no use, once one crack was covered, 2 more would appear. Absolute waste of money, and in the middle of nowhere, with no possibility to buy another one. I honestly shouldn't have trusted a different brand to the one we all use outdoors combined with tablets, but I lost mine in my last trip to Nepal. Please, don't buy, it is unsafe to carry this filter, the quality is really bad and it will surely break.

The collapsable water bottles are convenient, incredibly light weight, durable, and affordable. Being able to stand upright when full is a convenience I didn't know I needed, but am glad to have. The carabiner and handle are durable for hanging. The lid protects that cap from debris and is easy to use. I like that they're transparent and will be able to see if the interior ever gets dirty. They are hand wash only but have a large enough spout where they can easily be washed and left open to air dry. The filter is lightweight, convenient, and adapts to the water bottles easily. I haven't had to use the filter yet because I'll keep it for emergencies. It's good insurance to keep in your pack or vehicle to ensure clean drinking water. Overall, highly recommend for affordable a water carrying and filtration solution.

So, I would have totally given 5 stars except I really could have used some sort of bag to keep the filter in. Now, the filter does have a very cool attached cover for the spout which keeps all debris and liquids from entering or exiting the top of the filter. But still, the bottom is left open and it can get a few drops in my pack plus, the thing is black/ camo so it's darn near impossible to see if it's anywhere but your hand. So yeah, a high vis pouch would have been cool, but not critical. I like the fact that this filter not only removes bacteria, but viruses also. While viruses are not altogether common in North American waters, I for one like knowing I'm protected anyway. And who knows what the water will be like when the zombies finally uprise? Better safe than sorry, I always say. Ok, the pouches are VERY sturdy. The pics just don't really do them justice. Only after you've filled one to capacity can you truly feel their durability. Oh, and the carabiners allow a hiker to clip a bag or two on their pack or belt, or hammock or paracord whatever, you get it. Yes, the water flow is slow. You will have to squeeze/ pull when drinking directly from the unit, and yes it is slow squeezing when using the bag/ filter combo to fill other water bottles and pots for cooking. BUT it is a whole heck of a lot faster and more convenient than boiling a wee bit of a time for sure. Overall, I really like this system. Compact, like the Sawyer mini, but with added protection and the carbon filter keeps my water from tasting like trout and grasshoppers.

TL;DR: works exactly as advertised! I took this system with me on a long hike in Guam. The hike ended up being longer and more difficult than originally anticipated, but, I was able to quickly acquire and process some... very questionable water for myself and another person on the hike. Absolutely saved us from dehydration, or anything worse. The water in question was in a pool at the base of a waterfall. Overgrown with algae and scum, and full of fresh water shrimp and some small fish. We weren't sure if it would work, but figured dysentery later was preferable to dehydration and heat exhaustion now. Luckily our fears were unfounded, and I trust this system completely. My one complaint: it's easy to cross thread the filter onto the bag, which can allow unfiltered water to escape the bag neck. I recommend a test squeeze before you hold it over your clean water container, but otherwise, great setup!

Despite being the best “straw” that I know of on the market, why use it, when you can bring the big brother, the Survivor Filter Pro with you for roughly the same weight and size. That said, I have two Survivor Filter Pro’s and one extra filter set, which gives me roughly 78k gallons of “clean” water. I’ve also got one of these for each of the people in my household. On top of that I have the largest and smallest Berkey on the market and a sustainable chlorine source. I’ve put allot of money and effort into providing my family with clean water no matter what. Remember, that the carbon filter on these (fast, smell and some heavy metals) is used up well before the virus/bacterial filtration is. Remember too the difference between nominal and absolute pore size. The nominal (average, kinda) on this is 0.05, the absolute (largest pore) is 0.25. What this means is that their filters are filtering out things .05 microns or larger at a specific rate. In this case, that rate is 99.999, the 0.25 is the size of their largest pore in the filtering medium. The only other company that comes close to this is MSR and their 99.99 nominal rate is .02 but this isn’t a straw, they are hand pumps and gravity bags, plus they make no attempt at filtering out fast, smell, heavy metals, etc. Why not go with the Survivor Filter Pro (if you’re only gonna buy one) with a nominal pore size of .01 at 99.9999 effectiveness. This product, though less effective than its big brother, is easier to use on the go. Fill up the water bottle with dirty water and go. Where the Filter Pro, requires several tubes out, pumping, etc. So it’s a question of, do you need to get the water and run, or can you sit around for 5 minutes?
