Excellent Bookkeeping Book and More!
This is an excellent book for learning the ins and outs of bookkeeping. The topics are thorough. I was assigned this book by Ashworth College. It is mandatory reading for their bookkeeping course. I will be able to use this book as a Standing Operating Procedures Manual. This information in this book is absolutely invaluable. I also received a cute bookmark that I use as I advance in the course. I am very happy with this purchase.

Most Helpful for the Advanced Bookkeeper
I love this book but I would probably adjust the title to direct it to the correct audience. It is not for the beginner or the person setting up a bookkeeping practice. It is totally fantastic for the bookkeeper who is an integral staff member at a company and who needs to produce more than the quarterly P & L or balance sheet. I have been a freelance bookkeeper for 13 years and find most books on the subject way too basic. This book not only helps on the tasks I do infrequently but it makes me feel important about the work I do. Sometimes the bookkeeper is delegated to just a data-entry drone but Steven Bragg values the job to such an extent you can't help but walk a little taller and shine a little brighter on the job.

Better than reading online.
I like having the book instead of reading it online for my class. Thank you

Thorough and Well Organized
This was my textbook for a very thorough bookkeeping course. I highlighted and bookmarks my copy, and graduated with an A. Not too bad for a recycled electrician, lol.

Misleading Title
The title of this book is a bit misleading, because it does not teach you how to succeed as a bookkeeper. Most of the book (at least 65%) is really geared toward tasks that would normally be done by the controller of the company and/or even the accountant. It's a book that tells you how to calculate formulas such as needed to find out if taking an early discount on the payment of a bill would be worth it in terms of the interest rate that you are getting from having that money sit in the bank or invested vs. the loss of interest on paying it early (he does not deal with the dollar amount, which most business do).The book deals with formulas, ratios and flow charts to keep tight controls on the cash flow, projections and budgeting---all task done by the controller in a large size company. It is more of a reference manual that dictates the procedures needed to accomplish certain accounting tasks. The author goes through all the departments in a standard mid to large size company and list the protocols for that department. So essentially it gives the reader an idea of the accounting tasks performed by each department.I found the book very advanced yet limited in terms of information relating to the daily tasks done by the bookkeeper--receivables, payables, bank recs, wages, tax forms etc.
