I'm someone who exercises frequently and takes care of their body, but I'll be the first to admit I have a HORRENDOUS diet. I just seem to love and or crave the taste of foods filled with sugar and fat, and I'm certain I'm not alone. Thank goodness for this product! Now, I can make a tasty chocolate shake in the morning that essentially works as a multivitamin! I just mix a scoop of my spiru-tein, about half a tablespoon of instantized coffee, either half a scoop of platinum hydrowhey or cocoa mix (depending on which one I have at the time), and voila! A super nutritious drink that will keep me full and get my metabolism going for the day! I would note that the spiru-tein powder should be mixed with something else low cal that's chocolate flavored because it's incredibly mild in terms of chocolate taste. Also note that I use a mini blender to mix all these ingredients. This is a necessity, because the spiru-tein isn't easy to mix as it claims. It's not really the taste of the powder that makes it phenomenal, it's the nutritious value and the flexibility it has in mixing with other chocolate powders or whatever you'd prefer to create a drink that actually tastes good for how many vitamins it contains. For the people who have had other chocolate protein powders, keep in mind this does not taste as sweet or as starkly chocolate. The smell is not sweet or chocolately either, to me it was almost fishy smelling, but I don't have a strong sense of smell so this had zero effect on my perception of the drink and the taste. In general, for anyone who would like to improve their health, I'd certainly recommend this product.

I have bought Spiru-Tein protein powders several times in the past. Great mix of nutrients. Delicious tasting. Always a good breakfast or other meal alternative, when blended with coconut, soy, or almond milk, or coconut water, with frozen berries, stevia, chia seeds, flax seeds, avocado slices, or collagen powder added in.

I Started using spirutien in the 1980s as a great nutritional shake to add iron to my vegetarian diet. I loved it then I love it now it’s a perfect start to the day with homemade almond milk.

Edit: As of today, April 27th, 2015, I went to my local distributor and the 2lb chocolate spirutein had NO STEVIA! not sure if this particular distributor moved all the stevia tainted product yet, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Original post: Wow, this was my favorite product for a number of years, but this latest reformulation is a disaster. This particular batch was poorly packaged and arrived dented and busted open, so the inside of my box was covered with this new superfine moondust powder consistency that just seems to get everywhere, that aside, I mixed up my usual morning shake and took a sip. The result was this godawful sickening sweet taste that made me think that surely I had somehow gotten the wrong product. Nope, I checked it against my last can of Chocolate Spirutein, all the nutritional information was exactly the same, no additional carbs or sugars. So I checked the ingredient list. Listed at number 11 (out of 40, 41 if you count "love" which this package surely does not contain) is now stevia. I'm fairly certain this new superfine choking dust cloud is the result of them just pouring a ton of stevia into an awesome product, which is a shame. Don't make my mistake, I'm out $40 already, find a new protein powder and find it in a hurry. This will be my last Nature's Plus product purchase. Thanks for losing yet another customer, zero calorie stevia.

I've bought this brand of shake mix many times throughout the years and though I've tried other brands, I tend to come back to Spiru-tein. Most of the time I pick up the individual shake mix packets at a health food store to sample the various flavors. Chocolate is one of the better ones in my opinion. This shakes mix tastes like a health food protein shake and not like a sweet, rich chocolate milkshake, but it's still pretty good. Even when I use a blender bottle and not an actual blender to make the shake, it mixes well and isn't clumpy or grainy. I like the fact that it's just sweet enough without being too sweet. The chocolate flavor is just right too. One scoop contains only 7 grams of sugar, 14g of protein and with 1 cup of skim milk it's only 176 calories. I bought this shake to get additional protein and calcium without adding lots of excess calories or fat to my diet, so this works for me. The consistency of the shake can vary based on what you mix it with. I found it to be thinner with almond milk and thicker with regular milk and coconut milk. About average with soy milk. If you put it the blender with a couple ice cubes, it's thicker and has a creamier taste. If you add more than a couple ice cubes, it can get too thick to blend.

I use this for peanut butter balls for my Grandson. It also makes good smoothies. It is not sweet. I have been using this product for over 40 years. It is a great way to get nutrition you might be missing in your diet.
