Review: What a bargain! My Rolex loves it. - I was a bit apprehensive due to the low price and mixed reviews but buying this item was a great decision. I wear an older 1970's Rolex that does not have quickset meaning to change the date is a pain so it is important to me to keep it running. Many weekends I am around the house and have no need to put on a watch. In the past I would have to roll the Rolex ahead 24 or 48 hours to get the date correct. My watch typically gains 7-10 seconds a day which is superb for a 40ish year old watch. This winder keeps my old Rolex dead on within 2-3 seconds a day. It can be on the winder for days and days at a time and almost perfect. My watch was recently serviced and timed which helps but when you wear it your movements and use use are not in a vacuum so the timing can vary from person to person. This winder however does its job perfectly and my timed Rolex is keeping almost perfect time on it. I am THRILLED! If I had any complain at all it would be that it works 3 hours on and 3 hours off and seems to have some internal clock. If you leave it plugged in and off and put the watch in it may start spinning or it may not. I would prefer it started spinning so I know all is well. This however is just my preference. Buy it! Review: Works like advertised - 1 month in and it's still running. I will probably edit this review the moment it stops working. (knocks on wood) Keeps my Tissot PR50 Automatic watch ticking. To clarify if people are wondering: This winder DOES NOT have an alternating oscillation function. It's either all the way clockwise or all the way counter-clockwise (or off). Motor noise is minimal. a little quieter than my Laptop fan. It sits on my desk about 10 feet away from my bed and it doesn't wake me from my sleep. When I'm awake and it's running, I'll hear the faint motor whirring. It keeps my watch running and it doesn't cost much. What else can I say? [UPDATE] 5/11/10 I noticed the motor is running a little louder. It sounds like something is vibrating within the unit. It's louder going CW versus CCW. I tried to troubleshoot by resetting the watch in the slot and changing the rotation, but still hear the annoying vibration. I then tried squeezing the unit on the sides, which quiets it down, but reappears when I stop squeezing. I keep the unit running all day, every day and I have yet to remove my automatic watch from the winder. [UPDATE] 06/05/10 The motor is running quiet again. I hardly know it's on when it's rotating. I have worn my watch once since the last review. I may have "fixed" the problem when I replaced my watch back on the winder.

Excellent Watch Winder
I purchased this watch winder based largely on price, but what I received and the way it performs exceeds the price I paid. I currently have two of these watch winders which are used to wind the following watches: an Omega Sea Master, a Tag Heuer Aqua Racer and a Fortis Professional GMT Space Watch. When I am wearing any one watch, the other two are in the winders. After a couple of years of service, they are working flawlessly. I have had, to date, no problems, and my watches are performing perfectly, too. The only negative is that the winding mechanism is a bit noisy; since I keep both of them in my bedroom, I often hear them winding during the night. Other than that small concern, I wholeheartedly recommend these units as a great value for the money.

P.O.S.
Opened it up and turned it on. So far it's working great. I love the auto timer so it's not spinning all the time. It is very quiet and fits my Brietling Superocean very well. I hope it lasts....... *Update* So after one day of it working perfectly, it took a dump on me. The winder stopped turning!!!!! I had to smack it on the side a few times to get it working.... Now, not even a week of owning it, it doesnt work at all now.... DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! Its my fault, of course, you get what you pay for!!!!

A quiet and effective bargain
I wanted my automatic watch, which requires about 960 turns per day, to keep accurate time. But I don't wear it every day. So a winder was a great solution. This is constructed inexpensively from molded plastic, but it looks pretty good. It's about the size of a softball and quite light. The one fact I wish was in the product description is the turns per day (TPD). That number is 2160, a lot more than my watch needs. But overwinding is not a problem for my Seiko, so no problem. Note that this winder can be configured to rotate clockwise, or counterclockwise. It will not alternate, making this device less than ideal for some watches (and again, not an issue for my Seiko). Putting in the watch is easy. You squeeze hard on the left and right "ears" (a picture in the minimal manual is sufficient to get it) and the mounting piece slides out. Press in the spring-loaded post underneath (which makes it one-size-fits-all), slide on the watch, release the spring-loaded post, then slip the mounting piece back in. My watch is not particularly heavy (141 grams) but it's not light, and it does not "flop" at all during rotation. I find the winder quiet. I keep it in my office, but I would be comfortable with it on my nightstand. I'll check in again sometime with a longevity report. The winder comes with a wall-wart adaptor plug (110v-240v, 50/60 Hz) and cannot run from batteries.

Not a single problem with this winder
This is my first automatic winder purchase and everything has been going great for the first six months. To be perfectly honest I don't use it that much...I wear my automatic Orient Black Mako every day and only use this winder when I am not wearing the watch during the day which is maybe 2 days a week total. It doesn't run a ton but in the limited time I have used it I have experienced no problems. It's quiet, can go spin in two directions (which doesn't matter to me but might be useful to others), and hasn't failed in the time I have used it. This has been a good purchase for the price. So far so good!

Had to make some structural changes...
I own a Porsche design watch and decided to purchased this winder since this watch was not able to survive over the weekend without use. After opening the box, the winder feels cheap (it is actually the cheapest model...) due to its plastic enclosure. After fitting the watch in and turning it on, and it started to turn, seemed fine. Unfortunatelly the 1 hour of turning and 3 hours of resting was not enough and my watch ended up stopping, the winder could not do its job. The winder does not offer any option to change this operation pattern. After 5 minutes of analisys decided to open up the winder to figure out how to change the working pattern and make it turn continuously. Here is what I did... (1) take the fron cover by pulling it back, no screws just pull it. (2) behind this front cover there are 6 screws, take them out. (3) softly pull the whole engine and watch base out of the case. (4) you will find a small circuit with a chip in it, this is the board that control the work / rest cycle. There are two cables that connect to this board, one from the on/off switch and the other to the winder engine. Unpplug this cables from the board and connect them directly according to their color, red with red, black with black. One of the connectors have a third green cable, do not connect it. (5) but everything back in place. So far it was been working great, it does not stop and keeps my watch winded. The on/off switch works and also provides the direction of the engine turning. Hope it helps, cheers!

Great Value for the money
It does the function well. It is made with plastic, but the price is right and keeps my watch running. On for 1 hour and off for 3 hours with no problem. It can turn clockwise or counterclockwise but I only use it one way with no problems. I also have a $150.00 one, but it doesn't work any better (leather padded). If you are looking for something fancy, don't buy this, but if you want a functional unit with a good value, this is the unit for you. I would rather spend $100 savings for something else.

Great Value Watch Winder
I bought this because I got annoyed with always having to wind my kinetic watch, and it's completely fixed that issue for me. It's made of plastic but still looks pretty nice, and I like that it has a clear plastic cover so that the watch doesn't get dusty if it sits on there for a few days or longer. It's also relatively small and can easily fit on the corner of a desk or night table. The four settings are great and work quite well regardless of the type of watch you put on it. I use the 9 hour and rest setting (9 hours of turning and then it rests for 9 hours, then repeats). It also makes almost no noise at all; in fact I can't ever recall noticing it except for the first time I put my ear right up to it to see if it did. Overall it's a great little winder for the cost, and so long as it lasts me at least a year I'll be happy and definitely buy another (though hopefully it lasts at least double that long).

Quiet, keeps watches going.
Simple design, efficient device, good price. Keeps my Tissot watches wound, and fits large and smaller watches. It's a little noisy and I don't keep it in the bedroom, but it can definitely be installed into a walk-in closet, for instance. The watch holder keeps the watch gently cradled while it spins around slowly and keeps automatic watches ticking. I've been gone for weeks, leaving mine in the device, and all is perfecto!
