Nice box which i needed for keeping my sewing things. Its sturdy with plenty of room. It would be better with a strap to stop the top from opening down the other way. But i attached my owen strap by stapling it to the wood with no problems. Its made of proper wood not the lookalike plastc fabric and its reasonably priced. I would recommend.

I decided I wanted to make or buy a Xmas decoration for my grandson every year until he eventually leaves home ( he’s only 2). This way he would have amassed a small selection for his first Xmas tree. I wanted a box that they could be stored in that wasn’t too bulky and that I could decorate. This one seemed perfect and I’m really pleased with it. It’s nicely finished (smooth and not many knots or blemishes) and I will be able to paint both the top and the sides and even put a message underneath. The brackets are decent and seem strong enough. It doesn’t have a clasp but I will get my hubby to fit one. I knew this before ordering. The decorations I make are on slices of wood so I didn’t want a deep box. The measurements on Amazon are correct so check them before ordering to ensure you know what you will be getting. In conclusion if you need a decent box of this size I can definitely recommend this.

THE BOX (MADE FROM PINE AND SANDED NEATLY) WAS WELL MADE AND STRENGTHENED WITH STANDARD BOX JOINTS. IT ARRIVED ON - TIME, WELL-PACKED AND WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE. THE FIRM HAD WRAPPED IT IN CELLOPHANE TO PROTECT IT TOO. THE HINGES WORKED WELL. THERE WAS NO FRONT CATCH, BUT IT WASN'T SUPP[OSED TO HAVE ONE! I've been looking for a shallow wooden box to turn into a studio watercolour pan box, and was overjoyed to find this beauty. I removed the hinges, then wood-glued a wooden ruler along the inner back side to make a lip to match the one on the front. This means the lid sits snugly on top to keep the paints dust free. Then I used a clear wax polish to seal the wood inside and out. (I could have painted the inside/outside of the lid with white enamel paint to create a mixing surface, but I already use porcelain serving dishes for mixing paint, so I'll just paint the lid with watercolour primer to use as a colour chart when I fill the pans. The box holds 112 full pans and around 28 half pans. I'm going to order another box in the new year, they are so easy to convert. and much cheaper than art shop boxes.

Would have been 5 star but hinges are a bit cheaply made and i was expecting them to open fully so that the lid could rest on the table rather than be kept up in the air by crap hinges. I would have got more use out of the box then. 90* angle for the shape was a bit off also but aside from the hinges it was a great purchase and i could see myself buying another in the future. I bought some black felt and lined the inside with it and its looking good now.

Good box at a reasonable price

The box is reasonably well constructed, but nothing to get too excited about. I’m pondering on whether to send i TV back, because the lid doesn’t shut easily. It catches a strip of wood on the front edge! I’ve shaved a bit off and it is slightly better, but for the money, I expect better. The hinges are not great quality as others have alluded to…

A nicely crafted storage box. It is being used for art supplies. One suggestion: the wood is soft and absorbs any kind of pigment. A quick application of lemon oil or teak oil provides a little protection
