I am a young engineer who is still trying to free hand draw sketches and diagrams both in the field and in the office. This erasing shield, old fashioned as it may seem, works great to make my sketches cleaner and easier to read. The shield is thin for an eraser to contact the paper but strong enough to not bend or break. I definitely recommend this product both to more experienced drafters and artists and to young drafters and engineers when sketching work.
