This base plate looks nice and feels like it’s made with high quality materials. It’s lighter weight than a different base plate I have and it’s nice that I can access the USB port. My other base plate blocks the USB port door. It’s a little taller than my other base plate on the bottom, even though it’s lighter weight. My only problem with this base plate is that I use an additional plate that holds an AirTag and I can’t attach it to this plate because the extra 1/4inch hole on the bottom that allows you to attach another mounting plate isn’t centered, so my plate that holds my air tag sticks out the back. It’s a nitch use case, but it keeps me from using this plate. That’s why I gave it only 4 stars, otherwise I would give it 5 stars. I still would recommend this base plate over the actual Hasselblad plate. This is a better value.

On the downside, it’s not the lightest option out there, and the price is a bit higher than generic brackets—but that’s expected given the fit and build quality. Also, initial adjustment might take a minute to dial in perfectly. Overall, it’s a well-designed, reliable accessory that matches the quality of the camera it’s built for. It’s ideal for photographers using the X2D who want fast orientation changes, solid stability, and a clean, professional setup without compromising access or protection.

I regretfully did not grab any photos of this base plate mounted on my X2DII rental camera but I used it for a trip we took to The Smokey Mountains. I admit, I would not own it if I did not see it on Vine since I do not physically own this camera but in my short time using it, I found that its simple versatility for quickly switching from Landscape to Portrait mode was invaluable when shooting nature and landscapes on our trip. I’ve been experimenting with Panoramas and when you do that, you have to try and keep the end of your lens centered on top of your tripod so you don’t see warping in your photos when you merge them. This having the Arca mount on the side made it easy for me to get the camera dead center of my tripod head, fixing the aforementioned issue I just referenced. It does block the card slots, but it’s only one screw and the driver for said screw is magnetically attached to the bottom of the bracket itself so I really don’t see it as being that limited. Alternatively, you could just file transfer over cable if you didn’t want to fuss with having to remove the bracket every time. It’s machined well, fits well and provided the versatility I needed without making a large camera more cumbersome.

I'm new to the Hasselblad, but I have similar L-brackets for my mirrorless cameras. So I'm comparing this to the best of what's available for those Pros: - Well crafted - Strong - Light - Perfect fit and exposes the battery release and battery compartment perfectly - Comes with a tool to tighten, held on by a magnet - Great fit for Arca-Swiss - It has another 1/4-20 hole on the bottom if you still need one Cons - It blocks opening either of the compartments on the side (memory card/USB). I'm not sure about the X2D, but I have the X2Dii - The bracket for the vertical position is short, so it's not above the center of gravity for the camera. This may pull your camera off level/plumb when shooting - My other brackets have a loop on the right side so that you can use a grip (like the Cotton Carrier grip). I can't use that with this bracket.

It all feels very secure when mounted. This is worth every penny, and it pays for itself if you do sets that consist of a number of shots and not a set time. You're able to move faster.

This L bracket is nicely machined. No sharp edges or anything. It fits flush with the X2Dii and does not interfere with the battery slot. This however, does block the side doors. I personally wouldn’t be using those slots that much, but if you’re used to using external CFB cards as part of your workflow, this could be a deal breaker.
